The final phase of the 2024/25 Champions League is here and the strongest clubs on the old continent are fighting to reach the dream final. If you are wondering when and where the Champions League final will be played, we will tell you everything you need to know about the big match that will designate the future King of Europe.

Date and stadium of the Champions League final

The 2024/25 Champions League final will be played on Saturday, May 31, 2025. The big night of European soccer will be held at the Allianz Arena in Munich, Germany, a modern stadium that holds up to 70,000 spectators, home stadium of Bayern Munich and a historic venue for great soccer matches. In fact, a major football event has already been held there, namely the final of the 2012 Champions League, a match that saw Chelsea FC be crowned champions after beating Bayern Munich in a penalty shoot-out.

The reason why Munich has been chosen as the venue for the 2025 final is because the UEFA finals calendar has been changed following the pandemic. This stadium was supposed to host the 2023 final, but the health situation and the restructuring of venues meant that its turn had to be postponed. The Allianz Arena is preparing to be the center of European soccer activity on May 31st.

Munich, a talisman city for the Champions League

Munich is a city with a long footballing history and, in fact, its relationship with the Champions League goes back many decades. The capital of Bavaria had also been the venue for three other finals played at the Olympic Stadium, in addition to the one that took place in 2012 at the Allianz Arena: the 1979 final, in which Nottingham Forest beat Malmö; the 1993 final between Olympique de Marseille and AC Milan; and the 1997 final, when Borussia Dortmund beat Juventus.

Hence, the 2025 final will be the fifth to be held in the city of Munich, making it one of the cities in Europe with the longest tradition in the history of the European Cup.

Upcoming Champions League finals

The UEFA has made public the decision on some of the venues for the upcoming grand finals. After Munich, the next to host the Champions League final will be the Puskás Arena in Budapest, which has been designated for the final of the tournament corresponding to the 2025/26 season. On the other hand, the Metropolitano in Madrid has put itself forward as a candidate to host the final in 2027, and is competing against Baku, the capital of Azerbaijan.

So, with the focus back on the future, Spanish clubs are going to try to be major players in the competition and get ahead of the English, who have the best national league. The road is not going to be easy, but Spanish football has shown on many occasions that it has nothing to fear from anyone, so it is going to try to maintain the hegemony it has shown for many years.

As we approach the Champions League final in 2025, excitement is building among fans who dream of seeing their team lift the continent’s most prestigious club trophy in the Allianz Arena. The round of 16 is the starting point for this final phase, which hopes to crown its new champion in May.
