LaLiga is not the only thing on FC Barcelona’s busy schedule. Barça are in the thick of the fight for the domestic league title, a fight in which they cannot afford to lose. Hansi Flick’s men will be hosting Real Sociedad this Sunday at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys, aiming to take all three points and stay at the top of the table.
Both teams are coming off Copa del Rey semi-final action this week. The Catalans played at home on Tuesday against Atlético Madrid in a wild match where Barça started and finished poorly. The Catalans found themselves 0-2 down after just five minutes, but responded with goals from Pedri and Curbasí. With the score level, Íñigo Martínez and Lewandowski completed the comeback. At 4-2, the game seemed over, but first Llorente and then, in stoppage time, Sorloth made it 4-4, leaving everything to be decided at the Metropolitano.
Meanwhile, Real Sociedad faced Real Madrid on Wednesday. A match in which the Whites came out on top with a solitary goal from Endrick, giving them an advantage for the second leg in April at the Santiago Bernabéu. Imanol Alguacil’s side were too generous in front of goal and came up against a strong Lunin performance. Now, the txuri-urdin will need to go all out in Madrid.
