The future of Ansu Fati has been in the news throughout the winter market with the various offers the player has received to leave FC Barcelona. A Barcelona in which he plays no role, he has been left out of the squad on multiple occasions. He is not part of Hansi Flick‘s plans, any more than he was part of Xavi Hernández‘s, and he has not played a single minute in La Liga for months.

Ansu Fati has only played 186 minutes this season, spread over eight matches: four in LaLiga (Alavés, Sevilla, Espanyol and Real Sociedad), three in the Champions League (Monaco, Young Boys and Bayern Munich) and one in the Copa del Rey (Barbastro). He has not scored any goals or provided any assists. He has not played in La Liga since the match against Real Sociedad on November 10th at the Reale Arena.

In the words of his own manager, Hansi Flick, “It’s important for me to be honest with the players. I was honest with him. It’s his decision. We’ve talked about his possibilities. If he wants to stay, fine. He’s from La Masia. We’ll take care of him. Maybe he can come back the way we want to see him. This is professional football. Our job is to help them, to help them learn and improve, with everyone. Not just with Ansu and everyone else. We want them to improve every day. Ansu Fati is a hyper-professional player and he is focused.”

In the January transfer window he refused to leave Barça despite the fact that Ansu Fati had options with Besiktas, who fought for him until the end. In December there was speculation about the possibility of him leaving for another LaLiga team such as Sevilla. From then on, rumours and offers from other clubs have arrived, but the player has refused to leave. The last name to be mentioned with the transfer market still open was Besiktas, who seem to be persistent in their efforts.

His refusal to leave earned him a place in the winter market, but everything seems to indicate that the player will be one of those who will leave in the summer given his more than untenable situation. The Barça team must make sales in the summer if it wants to make room for new signings and the young player has all the chances of being one of those who changes the course of his career.
