On and on it goes. FC Barcelona continue to be unstoppable in 2025 and the numbers speak for themselves. Seven consecutive league victories, 18 matches unbeaten so far this year, over 130 goals scored and top of the league with a game in hand. It’s normal for all this to lead to euphoria and confidence that FC Barcelona will win some, if not all, of the titles this season.
The squad already showed itself to be motivated and convinced this week after the resounding victory in the Champions League against Benfica that took them through to the quarter finals where they will face Borussia Dortmund. Hansi Flick’s side won thanks to a brace from Raphinha, who was set up for one of his goals by Lamine Yamal, who also found the net.
This Sunday the match was at the Metropolitano Stadium in a key duel for the league title and Barça made a statement. The Azulgranas started the match badly, seeing how goals from Julián Álvarez and Soloth put Atlético de Madrid ahead, but soon there was a reaction from Barça to equalize with goals from Ferran Torres and Lewandowski. In added time, Lamine Yamal and, once again, the Shark Ferran Torres, would score to seal the epic comeback.
After the game, the dressing room was once again euphoric and confident of the treble. One of the first to speak to the press was Lamine Yamal, who said that the win against Atleti was a show of authority. “Beating Atlético is a bang on the table to be leaders with a game in hand,” he said with regard to the upcoming match against Osasuna.
In the mixed zone, Lamine was ambitious. ‘At the beginning of the season we said it, the objective was and is to win all the titles because we are Barça. We will try and give our all for this shirt and for the fans,’ he said, dreaming big
An ambition already shown after the Champions League triumph by several of his teammates. Gavi was clear in saying that, as of today, they have won the only title that has been up for grabs this season. “We’ve won the only cup so far, the Super Cup. I’m convinced that we can win all the remaining titles,” he said.
The midfielder is just one example of the widespread opinion that this squad can take on anything, although coach Hansi Flick is more cautious. “It’s good for the players to see themselves as capable of winning the Champions League because it means they have confidence in what we are doing, but my job is to focus them on the next game”.
