Ronald Araújo’s departure is taking shape: a new suitor emerges

FC Barcelona are flying and nothing seems to be able to stop them in 2025. Seven consecutive league victories, 18 matches unbeaten so far this year, over 130 goals scored and top of the league with a game in hand. In their last league match, they played a great game at the Metropolitano in a key match for the league title and Barça made a statement.

Barça started the game badly, watching as goals from Julián Álvarez and Sorloth gave Atlético de Madrid the lead, but there was soon a reaction from the Catalans to equalise through goals from Ferran Torres and Lewandowski. In added time, Lamine Yamal and, once again, the Shark Ferran Torres, would score to seal the epic comeback.

In this weekend’s match against Atlético, Casadó had to be substituted and on Monday the club issued a medical report on his condition. ‘As for Marc Casadó, tests carried out this morning, Monday 17 March, have shown that he has suffered an injury to the external collateral ligament of his right knee. Further tests are pending to determine the exact extent of the injury and subsequent treatment.’

With this prognosis, the Barça midfielder would miss a minimum of twelve matches, in addition to a hypothetical Champions League semi-final and a possible Copa del Rey final. If the absence were to last two months, the last two league matches (Barça-Villarreal and Athletic-Barça) and a possible Champions League final, scheduled for 31 May in Munich, would also have to be added.

There is a glimmer of hope that could shorten the timeframe: the tear is not total, so the Barça midfielder will not need surgery. The treatment, therefore, will be conservative. With the calendar in hand, he could be available to Hansi Flick in the final stretch of the season.

All the matches Casadó could miss

La Liga matchday 27 Barça-Osasuna, postponed; La Liga matchday 29 Barça-Girona; Copa semi-final second leg Atlético-Barça; La Liga matchday 30 Barça-Betis; Champions League quarter-final first leg Barça-Dortmund; La Liga matchday 31 Leganés-Barça; Champions League semi-final second leg Dortmund-Barça; La Liga matchday 32 Barcelona-Celta: League J33 Barça-Mallorca; if they qualify, Cup Final; if Barça qualify, Champions League semi-finals; League J34 Valladolid-Barça; Champions League semi-finals, second leg; League J35 Barça-Madrid; League J36 Espanyol-Barça.
