Dani Carvajal has put his football boots back on five months after suffering a serious injury at one of the best moments of his career. The Madrid-born footballer was excited about the progress and shared the long-awaited moment on social networks, an excitement that has spread to thousands of Madrid fans, who are already awaiting the return of the full-back.

The hardest moment for Carvajal

It’s been just over five months since that fateful October 5th for Dani Carvajal. An unfortunate play in a fight with Yeremi Pino, as the game was coming to an end, suddenly brought one of the heroes of the last Champions League and the last European Championship for Spain to a standstill.

The injury is one of the most serious a footballer can suffer, with a rupture of the anterior cruciate ligament, a rupture of the external collateral ligament and a rupture of the popliteal tendon in his right leg.

The Leagnés footballer turned 33 in January. Although football has evolved a lot, the serious injury made many think that it could mean the end of his career or the end of his time at Real Madrid. But such a thought never crossed the mind of the Madrid-born player, and far from regretting what had happened, he got down to work to prepare his return.

Carvajal returns to the Valdebebas pitch

Dani Carvajal set to work very hard almost immediately after his knee operation, with two objectives: to return to play with Real Madrid and to shorten the recovery time as much as possible.

Last Monday Dani Carvajal gave his followers on social networks and Real Madrid fans a great joy. The footballer shared a photo on his profiles of himself putting on his football boots and a message: “How I had missed you”. Five months later, he was back in his football boots and stepping on to the pitch at Valdebebas, further proof of his recovery.

Goal: Club World Cup

The Real Madrid player has a clear goal in mind, to play in the first major club world cup to be held this summer in the United States. Carvajal is convinced that he will be ready for June 14th, the date on which the tournament begins.

The footballer is so motivated that the doctors and the people who work with him constantly ask him to take it easy and to set himself the goal of only returning when he is ready: “We have had to stop him”.

Carvajal recognized an event several weeks ago his willingness to continue working hard and shorten his return date to the playing fields. “I’m like an animal. I’m doing very well, progressing day by day, in excellent timeframes and without setbacks”.

On the other hand, although he regretted not being able to help the team, he has taken positive things from the injury he suffered, such as spending time with his family, something unthinkable when he was playing given the number of commitments and trips. “I’m not happy about not playing, but now I try to enjoy being with my family and not missing out on my young children: bathing them, having dinner, taking them to school… The little things”.

Dani Carvajal’s recovery is going well. Putting on his boots again and stepping on to a pitch is an important step in his recovery, one more in the long recovery period for a footballer. Real Madrid miss him on the right wing, surely as much as he misses the team. We won’t know if he can regain the form he had before the injury but, without a doubt, his return will raise the level of Real Madrid.
