The future of Ansu Fati has been in the news throughout the winter market with the various offers the player has received to leave FC Barcelona. A Barcelona in which he plays no role, he has been left out of the squad on multiple occasions. He is not part of Hansi Flick‘s plans, any more than he was part of Xavi Hernández‘s, and he has not played a single minute in La Liga for months.

Ansu Fati has only played 186 minutes this season, spread over eight matches: four in La Liga (Alavés, Sevilla, Espanyol and Real Sociedad), three in the Champions League (Monaco, Young Boys and Bayern Munich) and one in the Copa del Rey (Barbastro). He has not scored any goals or provided any assists. He has not played in LaLiga since the match against Real Sociedad on November 10th at the Reale Arena.

In the January transfer window, he refused to leave Barça despite the fact that Ansu Fati had options with Besiktas, who fought for him until the end. In December, there was speculation about the possibility of him leaving for another LaLiga team such as Sevilla. Since then, rumours and offers from other clubs have arrived, but the player has refused to leave. The last name to be mentioned with the market still open was Besiktas, who seem to be persistent in their efforts.

Barça is thinking of ways to ‘get rid’ of the player and has made a surprising decision: a hypothetical renewal. With this move, two things would be sought, on the one hand to reduce his high salary of more than 13 million euros gross; too high for a footballer who does not play. In addition, they would seek to reduce his buy-out clause, making it more affordable for any team.

Moreover, according to Transfermarkt, his value has plummeted and no one will pay a high amount for a player who is not worth it at the moment. According to the specialized portal, the market value of Ansu Fati is five million euros, which represents a decrease of five ‘kilos’ compared to the last update of his price at the end of the year. In this way, the striker is the second lowest valued player in the Barça squad, only surpassed by Wojciech Szczęsny (€1M).

He started the 22/23 season with a market value of 60 million euros and ended it with 35 million. It was his last great season with Barça: he played 51 games and scored ten goals. Now he has completely collapsed, not playing and not even being called up for most of Barça’s games.
