Total shift in Verstappen’s Red Bull exit: “It doesn’t make sense…”

Luka Modric was the guest on TF1’s Telefoot program, which published a preview of the interview with the Real Madrid player. In it, the midfielder, who will turn 40 in September, said he would love to retire at Real Madrid, although for the moment he is only looking to the present.

“Right now I’m not thinking about retirement. But as I’ve always said, I’d like to retire at Real Madrid, it would be a dream for me. There’s still a lot of the season left and I want to focus on what’s ahead, because there are a lot of games left. We’ll see what happens. I’m in no hurry,” he began by saying.

And he revealed that ”we haven’t talked about my renewal yet. At the end of the season I’ll meet with the directors to see what’s best for the club and for me.”

In the interview he also had words for his teammate Mbappé. The other day he experienced a curious episode in the first leg between Croatia and France. Mbappé was going into the area with Modric doing his best to stop him and steal the ball. At that moment the Frenchman went to the ground. Faced with the situation, the Croatian midfielder pounced on him to reproach him for having dropped down to provoke the penalty.

Modric’s steal of the ball had been clean and he let him know it. The Croatian number 10 quickly went over to the Frenchman and reproached him somewhat heatedly for having let himself fall. It was a gesture that at first took the Frenchman, still on the ground, by surprise. The midfielder then helped Kylian to get up, to the laughter of both of them

About Mbappé he said, “He is one of the best players in the world. He has the ability to do things that have never been seen before. What impressed me most about Mbappé was his personality, his character. He is an incredible guy, very humble, always ready to joke around, to help his teammates. He’s very calm. From the outside we can say that he hasn’t had his best season, but he’s got 30 goals, imagine if it was his best season. One of the best players I’ve ever seen. He’s a wonderful guy.”

Finally, with regard to the French striker’s words, who said the other day that he would ask the Croatian how to win the Ballon d’Or, he said that “I tell him to keep helping Real Madrid win games, I’m sure he’ll be one of the favorites to win not just one Ballon d’Or, but several.”
