The start of the season for Aston Martin is far from what they expected after the pre-season tests in Bahrain. Although they did not expect splendid results, the improvements of the AMR25 compared to last year’s car made them think that they would be leading the midfield, but the reality has been completely different.

Aston Martin resigns itself after a bad start

After the first two races of the F1 World Championship, Aston Martin has managed to save 10 points thanks to Stroll’s sixth place in the Australian GP thanks to the rain, but this result does not hide the reality of the AMR25, behind Williams, Alpine and Haas at the start of this season.

Despite the obvious improvements made by Aston Martin in 2025, with a more stable car in corners, with fewer vibrations, improved aerodynamics, the rest of the rivals have not stood idly by and have also taken a step forward, superior to those at Silverstone. If we add to this Fernando Alonso’s mistake in the first race and the brake failure in the second race, the disappointment is even greater, as the Asturian driver is the one who should be pulling the team along on the track.

Solutions for the Japanese GP

Barely three days have passed since the last race and it seems that Aston Martin has found the problems that have caused them the debacle at the start of this World Championship. Fernando Alonso has already been informed of what the problems with the AMR25 were in the first two races, including the brakes that forced his retirement, and significant changes are expected for the Japanese Grand Prix, where they are convinced that the new configuration of the car will make them fight for the middle zone without suffering in reliability and with optimized times. Now we just have to wait for the final race at Suzuka to see if Aston Martin has found a definitive solution to the incidents in the first races.

Total commitment from Fernando Alonso

For his part, Fernando Alonso continues to have 100% confidence in the team, aware of the titanic work being done at Silverstone. In the Chinese GP, despite his retirement, he offered to go back out on the track, with nothing he could do in the race, to collect data from the AMR25 that could have been very valuable for the team, who preferred not to risk taking the Spaniard out on track. Further proof of the Spaniard’s commitment to his team.

“Would you like to go out again to try something?” the driver asked as soon as he entered the pits because of the brake problems. ‘I’ll stay in the garage and take a lap just in case,’ he insisted after the team refused.

Alonso firmly believes that the team will find the key to the next races, which could mean gaining many positions: “The good thing is that the team that brings two or three tenths of an improvement is not going to gain two or three places. It will gain eight. We hope to continue improving at every Grand Prix”.

Aston Martin’s improvements for the Japanese Grand Prix seem real, although they will be setup improvements and adjustments to the current AMR25, as the package of improvements will not be available until the Italian Grand Prix, which will be held on May 18th. However, they hope to step up in the next races, as they already know what has been holding them back at the start of the World Championship. With these improvements and if Fernando Alonso leaves behind the bad streak with which he has started the championship, we can expect great things for the next races of the F1 World Championship.
