Pablo Torre was signed by FC Barcelona for 5 million euros, which could rise to 20 million if certain variables were met. This season his performance began to be remarkable, but his prominence has faded as the weeks have gone by.
The player’s performance is not bad in the few minutes he has been given. The midfielder has only played in 12 games spread over two Champions League games; 8 LaLiga games; and 2 Cup games. However, in the 373 minutes he has played, he has scored four goals and provided three assists.
His last start was on January 3rd when the team played its first match in the Cup against Barbastro (0-4). Pablo Torre has gone from strength to strength, at least in Hansi Flick’s order of preference. His start to the season was very promising, but now he is one of ‘Flick’s outcasts’.
Now, according to Sport, the Blaugrana club has made a decision about the player’s future. Despite the lack of playing time, the club has not stopped showing faith in the player and wants to extend his contract for at least another year so that he can be loaned out and demonstrate his abilities with the aim of returning in the future. If he does not agree to extend his contract, Barça will look for a definitive exit for him as of June.
Pablo Torre came close to signing for Porto in January
Pablo Torre’s current market value, according to Transfermarkt, is five million euros and he has a contract with the Barça club until June 30, 2026. Eight million, above his value, is what Porto put on the table on the last day of the winter transfer window to take the promising Barça midfielder who, in the end, stayed at Can Barça.
However, although Barça’s directors were in favor of the operation, it was the player himself who was responsible for bringing the possible negotiation to an end. The numbers speak for themselves and the player is not enjoying playing time and prominence with Barça, but the Cantabrian prefers to pursue his options for a career in the city. This winter the player did not go to Bournemouth either, another team eager to have the former Racing de Santander player on their squad.
