Grab some popcorn because all hell is about to break loose. LaLiga and Barça have been engaged in a verbal battle over the last few days regarding the financial situation of the Barça team and everything surrounding the registration of players Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor.
LaLiga has requested precautionary measures to prevent FC Barcelona players Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor from participating in the remainder of the season. Following the decision of the CSD to allow both players to play until the end of the season, the body headed by Javier Tebas understands that the Resolution seriously violates the regulatory framework regarding economic control and the processing of sports licenses, undermines the general interest of the competition and compromises its integrity, as it violates the principle of equality between clubs. This, added to the statement the other day claiming that Barça had no salary cap, has angered the club.
Barça threatens legal action
In an official statement, Barça demands “absolute discretion” from LaLiga and its president, Javier Tebas, regarding the financial information provided to the club, and has announced that it will resign from its position on the Delegate Committee, the governing body and ordinary administration of the employers’ association, in protest.
Barcelona argues that there is “inappropriate behavior by LaLiga in making public the details of the financial information provided by the Club to the employers, as well as in making public the decisions of the LaLiga bodies against F.C. Barcelona”.
In the club’s opinion, this constitutes “a flagrant breach of contract with one of its affiliates”, as well as “an express breach” of Article 5 of the Budgeting Regulations, according to which the information, data and documents that the clubs provide to LaLiga will be “confidential” and “subject to data protection regulations”. Furthermore, Barcelona considers that the note published by LaLiga has been “the trigger for a large-scale smear campaign” and “an excuse to question the legitimacy” of the team’s sporting achievements.
It has also focused on Tebas’ words as “a clear attempt at destabilization that is unacceptable”, and has stressed that his “constant public statements about details of the club’s financial situation” and that he “expresses particular opinions” about leaving his players without a license “cannot be accepted”.
The club has therefore announced that it will initiate “appropriate actions in defense of its interests” and has demanded that LaLiga refrain from publishing data on the information provided by Barcelona.
