Aston Martin is determined to reach the top of Formula 1, and Lawrence Stroll is not going to spare any resources in order to achieve the objective of placing the team at the pinnacle of motorsport. The main investment has already been made, the pieces needed to reach the top are already working together. Now all that remains is to fit them together correctly in order to reach the finish line first and as quickly as possible.
Aston Martin’s roadmap
According to Grada3, Aston Martin has already designed a plan to reach the top of Formula 1. As has been leaked, and Grada3 has confirmed with the team‘s entourage, Aston Martin has its focus set on 2026, next season, the year in which the new regulations come into play and in which the team that best knows how to apply the new regulations will have a clear advantage in aspiring to the top of Formula 1.
However, there are still working groups dedicated exclusively to 2025 that continue to work tirelessly to incorporate new updates to the AMR25, but as they complete their optimization work, some of these workers and many of the resources being used will be transferred to the development of the AMR26. Adrian Newey, as is well known, has total freedom to develop both the AMR25 and the 2026 car; although his efforts, like the rest of the team, are of course focused on next season.
Investments in Aston Martin
In recent years, Aston Martin has invested a lot of money in order to have the best infrastructure to be able to carry out its plan in Formula 1. Starting with the new factory, which began to be at full capacity at the beginning of last year and which has everything necessary for the team to move forward in the right direction.
Another key aspect is the hiring of important people for the development of the car. The most talked about has been the last to arrive, Adrian Newey, but other renowned figures such as Andy Cowell, Gary Gannon, Dan Fallows and Enrico Cardile (the latter still blocked by Ferrari) have also joined the team to contribute their knowledge and help the team achieve its goal: to win the F1 World Championship.
The culmination of this investment by Aston Martin is the wind tunnel, which has only been in operation for a month, but which represents a radical change in the design of the car of the future. Until now, Aston Martin rented the Mercedes’ wind tunnel, with all the disadvantages that this entailed, such as limitations when it came to testing parts, transportation… all the logistical problems are now behind them as they have their own tunnel on their own premises. Furthermore, it has the latest technology and the latest advances, something that is not available to other teams.
Aston Martin has everything ready to start fighting with McLaren, Ferrari and Red Bull… although it won’t be in 2025 for sure. There are still resources dedicated to this season, where significant improvements are expected, but the best is yet to come and we will have to wait until 2026 to see the real potential of a team that is destined to dominate, because of the investment, and that, at the very least, gives the main teams in the current F1 something to think about. Although the fear and the ghosts of Toyota also lurk around Silverstone…
