Hansi Flick‘s FC Barcelona had been on a 24-game unbeaten streak and was well positioned to achieve the treble. In LaLiga, they increased the gap with Real Madrid to four points, they are already in the final of the Copa del Rey and in the Champions League they took a key step on Wednesday on the road to the final in Munich by beating Borussia Dortmund 4-0 in Montjuic.

Flick has had a huge impact on Barça. With the hard-fought victory against Leganés, Barça went on a run of 24 games without defeat, making it the best start to the year in the club’s history. They had not been defeated in any competition in 2025.

The Catalan team maintains its incredible run of results and has remained unbeaten since December 21 (1-2 against Atlético de Madrid), with a record of 20 victories and 4 draws in which the team has scored 71 goals (3.08 per game), conceding only 21 (0.91 per game).

A great run that was broken last night against Borussia Dortmund in the second leg of the Champions League quarter-finals. Four months after the last setback, the momentum has ended. Signal Iduna Park can now boast of having put an end to the Barça streak.

Curiously, in the last two games, Barcelona have seen their opponents score an own goal. Against Leganés, a goal from Jorge Sáenz gave the Catalans all three points in LaLiga and in the Champions League, Bensebaini also scored an own goal when Barça were having the worst time. In other words, Barça have gone two consecutive games without scoring.

Another dynamic that was halted was that of Szczesny. The German goalkeeper, a starter in this 2025, had not known defeat in a Barcelona shirt since his arrival. The Pole ended his run of 22 unbeaten games – 12 of them without conceding a single goal – and fell one short of matching Cruyff.

Tek and Barça said goodbye to their streak, but celebrated reaching the Champions League semifinals, something that had not happened for six years, when Barça faced Liverpool and were eliminated with a great comeback by the English team.

The end of the losing streak will mark a change in Barça’s dynamic or it will just be a blemish on the club’s record. Two consecutive league games and the Copa del Rey final will decide their fate over the next 10 days.
