The area around the Santiago Bernabéu is already preparing for one of the most important nights of the year. Real Madrid are playing for a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League against Arsenal, and it’s not going to be easy. They need to come back from 3-0 down from the first leg, and to do that, the first goal of the match will be scored, as is usual at this stage of the season, by the supporters. However, one external factor could affect whether the fans turn out in force before the match: the rain.

Real Madrid fans believe in the comeback

Santiago Bernabéu is preparing for another magical night in the Champions League. The challenge is tougher than ever: they will have to come back from the 3-0 defeat against Arsenal in the first leg, and it will be no easy task. Arteta’s team has proven to be a real great side, well-drilled and well-prepared, and it will be difficult for them to let themselves be beaten.

However, as the days since the defeat have gone by, the atmosphere among the Whites’ fans is that a comeback is possible. As is customary in this type of match, and even more so when the team goes into the second leg at a disadvantage, Real Madrid fans will arrive at the stadium well in advance to welcome and encourage their players. The arrival of the Real Madrid bus, scheduled for around 19:30, will be the most eagerly awaited moment, when thousands of Whites’ fans are expected to crowd into the Concha Espina to give the footballers a last cheer before they set foot in the Santiago Bernabéu.

Afterwards, everything will move inside the stadium, where the fans will turn out as rarely seen during the year, to be able to carry Real Madrid towards a comeback that could be historic. In fact, it has been 39 years since the white team has won by such a wide margin in the first leg.

The weather at the Santiago Bernabéu

But the Whites’ fans will have to keep an eye on an external factor to the arrival of the players, the weather and the rain. According to the AEMET, there is a 90% chance of rain over the capital between 17:00 and 18:30. By 19:00 hours, when the Real Madrid bus is due to arrive, the chances of rain are drastically reduced, with a 10% chance of rain. And from 20:00 hours, it is expected that it will stop raining for good.

By the time of the match, it won’t matter how much rain falls, as the Santiago Bernabéu will be covered and the fans will be sheltered from the rain.

Fans fully behind the team

Despite the weather conditions and the rain, thousands of fans are expected to gather in the vicinity of the stadium, rain or shine, to give their last breath to a team that has all the weapons to give Real Madrid a magical night in the Champions League, a new night of magic at the Santiago Bernabéu. As former England international Rio Ferdinand said, strange things happen at the Santiago Bernabéu in the month of April. The comeback seems complicated, but as the hours go by and the match approaches, the hopes of the fans and the team grow. The rain may make an appearance in the hours before the match, but it does not seem like it will be an impediment for the fans to be close to their team on the night, in what is, for the moment, the most important year for Real Madrid.
