Despite a slight dip in form in recent games, Barça is having a great season and is in contention for the treble. Much of its great form is due to the arrival of Hansi Flick on the bench and his great teamwork. Many players have rediscovered their best form since the German’s arrival.
The Azulgrana team is performing well from goalkeeper Szczesny, to a defense led by Cubarsí and Iñigo Martínez, to the midfield duo of Pedri and De Jong. What stands out most is the Azulgrana’s attacking prowess. Hansi Flick’s side have scored 85 goals in LaLiga EA Sports, 37 in the UEFA Champions League, making them the highest-scoring team in this season’s competition, 18 in the Copa del Rey and seven in the Spanish Super Cup.
Lewandowski in form
Enjoying a second youth this season at Barça, Robert Lewandowski is the first player to score more than 10 goals for three different clubs in a single edition of Europe’s premier club competition. So far, Lewandowski has scored 11 goals in as many games in the current Champions League campaign.
Against Borussia Dortmund, he came close to scoring his 100th goal in a Barça shirt, but he achieved another historic milestone. He is on course for 40 goals, as he has done in seven of his eight seasons at Bayern Munich, and there are still 13 games to go. His hunger knows no bounds. In addition, he is on the verge of reaching the 100-goal mark, having already scored 99 goals for Barça.
In addition to being LaLiga’s top scorer, the Polish striker seems to want the title at European level as well. Robert Lewandowski is the second-highest scorer in Europe’s top competition with 11 goals, just one behind his teammate Raphinha but one ahead of Guirassy.
The fair play problem
Barça is working in an uncertain transfer market, as one thing is what is needed and another is what fair play will allow. The club has to deal with some more significant renewals, such as those of Lamine Yamal, Koundé, and De Jong, and therefore must dedicate salary space to them.
In addition, LaLiga has questioned one of Barça’s two VIP seat deals (the one with New Era Visionary Group, from the United Arab Emirates) in its allegations sent to the CSD regarding the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor. Furthermore, the club will not return to Camp Nou within the initially planned timeframe, meaning that the income stipulated for its return to the remodeled Spotify Camp Nou will not be met.
“The club is confident that it will be able to maneuver the 1:1 rule in the market this summer because the VIP seats will be built before June 30, but regardless of whether it succeeds or not, no major investment is planned in the short term,” explains Sport.
Barça sets its sights on Barcola
Despite Lewandowski’s good form in attack and the overall performance of the attacking trio, as well as the financial problems, names continue to be linked with the Polish striker’s replacement at Barça in the future. The latest name to emerge is Bradley Barcola.
The young French striker, just 22 years old, has shone with his own light at Paris Saint-Germain, arousing the interest of the Catalan club due to his speed, unpredictability, and versatility in attack. The player has grown a lot under Luis Enrique since his arrival from Lyon.
