Ancelotti and his final days at Real Madrid: this is Florentino’s plan

The future of Carlo Ancelotti may be numbered, and those days could be far fewer than many imagine. The Italian coach could be coaching his last two games as coach of Real Madrid and could be out of a job after Saturday’s Copa del Rey final against Barcelona.

Brazil wants Ancelotti now

In principle, Carlo Ancelotti should finish his time with Real Madrid when the last La Liga matchday concludes on May 25 against Real Sociedad. That would be logical given that Real Madrid hopes to remain alive until the last matchday of La Liga, which means beating Barcelona (in Barcelona) in their remaining league match.

However, everything could be brought forward if Real Madrid suffers a setback in the Copa del Rey final. If the Whites lose to their eternal rivals in the same way they have lost in the two matches played this season (nine goals conceded in La Liga and in the Spanish Super Cup final), it could blow everything up. If we add to that the fact that they do not get the points in La Liga on Wednesday, the Chamartín side would be out of the title race.

In this regard, Brazil is pushing for Ancelotti to become the new coach, and to do so just before the next international break, which takes place once the domestic competitions and the Champions League are over, at the beginning of June.

Ancelotti and his career

Ancelotti has been one of the men in the spotlight at Real Madrid this season. Despite spending the whole year highlighting the team’s problems, calling for intensity and asking the board to sign players to cover the gaps left by injuries and the players who left the team last season (Nacho, Kroos and Joselu), it seems like the logical change after the end of one of Real Madrid’s most successful cycles.

Carlo Ancelotti will bring an end to a brilliant career. He would leave Real Madrid as the most successful coach in the club’s history, which is no small feat (3 Champions League titles, 3 Club World Cups, 3 European Super Cups, 2 La Liga titles, 2 Copa del Rey titles and 2 Spanish Super Cups). He still has time to add to this tally, although it seems unlikely.

Ancelotti’s options

But Carlo Ancelotti has not yet had his final say. In football, everything can change in a matter of hours, and before the Copa del Rey final, there is another La Liga matchday. In a week’s time, we could be talking about Real Madrid being in control of their own destiny to win LaLiga, with the Copa del Rey already in the bag. This would be a radical turnaround, but right now, given the team’s season, they are not confident that this will happen.

If Carlo Ancelotti’s departure is finally confirmed, Real Madrid is clear that it wants to give Ancelotti the send-off he deserves, as the most successful coach in the club’s history and a club legend on the bench. Real Madrid has often been criticized for not knowing how to say goodbye to its legends, but it seems that this time it will not make the same mistake.

This week, Ancelotti’s future could be decided, and he could be living his last hours as Real Madrid coach. He has two bullets left, and we will see if they are his last or if they will give the Italian a new lease on life. But everything indicates that this summer he will become the new coach of Brazil, something that the South American country has been seeking for years.
