The season has been tough for Real Madrid as a team, but also for several players who have been far from their best and have come under scrutiny. One of those players is Vinicius, who has been the subject of much speculation about his future, but also because of his performances, which have earned him boos from the Santiago Bernabéu crowd.
The boos prompted a reaction from the player, who has shown greater commitment in recent games, but he still lacks the accuracy that has always characterized him. The Vinicius-Rodrygo partnership seems to be obsolete, and the club is betting on an attacking duo formed by the Brazilian and Mbappé. The final decision will be made by the new coach who replaces Ancelotti, which, in principle, will be Xabi Alonso.
Vinicius and his future
A few weeks ago, Vinicius celebrated his 200th victory with Real Madrid in the La Liga match against Athletic at the Santiago Bernabéu. After reaching this milestone, the Brazilian gave an interview to the club’s media. In it, among other things, he spoke and gave clues about his future:
“I’ve got here through a lot of hard work, a lot of sacrifice and with the help of everyone at this club, the coaches, the president, the players, and I have to keep going because I want to stay here for a long time and hopefully I can continue making history,” said Vini after the game.
Vinicius also responded emphatically to rumors that he is leaving Chamartín: “We have to keep working, keep winning, and keep doing what we’re doing, which is winning everything with this shirt. That’s what goes down in history, and I want to go down in history and be one of the greats.”
Renewal within reach
After that match, many saw the best Vinicius again and speculation began about a renewal that seems to be getting closer and closer. A renewal that has been difficult to negotiate due to the financial demands of the player, who wants to be the highest paid at Real Madrid.
The player currently earns $15 million gross per season, but has reportedly asked to be the highest-paid player, with a salary of around $30 million net per season. This is an amount that the club has never considered paying, as it believes that such a salary could end up being a problem for the dressing room and could have a knock-on effect.
However, there is agreement to improve his conditions and offer the player a salary of around 20 million euros net per season. This would certainly place him among the highest paid players in the squad, but it would still be far from the Brazilian’s demands.
According to the newspaper Marca, as soon as the season ends, an agreement between both parties will be announced. Therefore, Vinicius and Real Madrid will remain together until 2030.
Saudi Arabia is not giving up
Despite this news of a renewal, Saudi Arabia does not seem to be giving up. A few months ago, there was talk of dizzying amounts such as €1 billion over five years, which would make him the highest-paid athlete in the world and in history (to date). Real Madrid would receive more than €300 million in the deal.
Now, a new offer has emerged on the horizon. According to information published by Sportz Zone, Al-Hilal wants to play its last card to try to change the Brazilian’s mind. The aforementioned media outlet reports that the proposal would be €800 million. The offer would include the transfer, the striker’s salary, and some very attractive bonuses.
