The future of Alexander-Arnold is getting closer and closer to Real Madrid. Once the footballer has announced that he will be leaving Liverpool at the end of this season, it seems that all that remains is for his arrival at the white club to be made official. But this arrival will not be so simple, given that the footballer’s contract is ending and he will be arriving at Real Madrid on a free transfer. The Englishman wants to be with his new team for the Club World Cup, and to do so, he will have to sit down with the board at Anfield.

The arrival at Real Madrid

Alexander-Arnold has known for several months where he will be playing next season. However, the footballer has remained silent in recent months, focusing solely on the club of his life, Liverpool, where he has been since he was a child. Now that the team has been crowned Premier League champions, the player has announced his decision to leave the team in a statement, although he has not confirmed which colors he will defend next season.

Although his signing for Real Madrid is an open secret, there are still some details to be resolved with the club before he can pull on the white shirt as soon as possible.

Alexander-Arnold’s contract

Alexander-Arnold will arrive at Real Madrid on a free transfer as his contract expires on June 30. But it is important to bear this exact date in mind. Until that day, the footballer is, for all intents and purposes, a Liverpool player and, therefore, would not arrive in time to be registered for the Club World Cup that the white team is competing in this summer.

Now that the player has announced his departure, it is time to sit down with the board to get his release letter ahead of time. And it seems that Real Madrid also wants to be present in the talks. There are three factors that could help Liverpool give in and release the player, but there is one compelling reason why they could refuse.

Liverpool’s decision

The first factor in Alexander-Arnold‘s favor is the delicacy and discretion with which he has handled his departure from the team. He has put the team’s goals first, and until it was crowned champion, he remained silent so that nothing and no one would lose focus on what was really important.

The second factor is Alexander-Arnold’s history with the club. As mentioned, the player has spent his entire life at the club, has given his all for the shirt, and has always put the team’s interests first. His closeness to the team could be the key to him leaving.

And the third factor is sporting: Liverpool will not be playing in the Club World Cup, so letting Alexander-Arnold leave would not mean strengthening a direct rival.

But the emotional factor plays against him. The fans have not taken kindly to him leaving the team, let alone doing so for free, without leaving any money for the club in a transfer fee. In this sense, the board faces a problem with its supporters if they accept that the player could play in the Club World Cup with Real Madrid.

Alexander-Arnold will be a Real Madrid player next season, and it remains to be seen whether he will also play in the Club World Cup. It is expected that the player and the team will reach an understanding. Once this matter is resolved, Real Madrid is likely to announce his signing, but as long as he is still playing in LaLiga, they will remain silent.
