It is widely believed that Real Madrid will change coaches for next season. Carlo Ancelotti could have a new destination, and that would be none other than Brazil, where he would become the national team coach. However, none of the three parties involved—Ancelotti, Real Madrid, and the Brazilian Football Confederation—have confirmed anything about these reports. And in the case of the Italian’s possible replacement, Xabi Alonso, he is also keeping quiet.

Ancelotti and El Clásico

Real Madrid visits Lluis Companys this Sunday in a key match for the league title. If Barcelona wins, the championship will be decided, and if they draw, it would not be so definitive, but the chances would be minimal for the Whites. Reports claim that if either of these two scenarios occur, Real Madrid would officially announce Carlo Ancelotti’s departure from Real Madrid after the last league match at the Santiago Bernabéu against Real Sociedad.

But if Real Madrid wins, and although some reports suggest that Carletto’s departure would also be announced, the truth is that there are serious doubts that the club will announce anything, as the team would be fully immersed in the fight for the championship with three games remaining, and the club does not want to lose sight of what is really important right now: the team’s victories.

Ancelotti’s future

Carlo Ancelotti’s departure is far from confirmed. In fact, if Real Madrid wins the league title, given the adversity the team has suffered during the season, with serious injuries that have prevented the coach from putting together a reliable starting eleven for the entire year, it would be considered a major triumph that could represent a 180-degree turn in the narrative that has left the Real Madrid coach out of the team.

The club would understand that the coach has once again achieved the club’s minimum objective, winning La Liga or the Champions League, and they believe, given Carlo Ancelotti’s track record, that there is still no coach as capable as Ancelotti to manage a squad with so many stars and so many egos.

Florentino Pérez’s gamble

Florentino Pérez is of the opinion that, if things are working, it is best to change them as little as possible. Real Madrid’s season has been plagued by setbacks, especially in defense, where injuries and a lack of replacements have caused disorder in the team that, admittedly, Carlo Ancelotti has been unable to fix. And amid these problems, compounded by a lack of planning on the part of the board, if Ancelotti wins one more title, which would be his 16th, the season would be considered a success, especially when looking sideways at the eternal rival, who, under this scenario, would only end up with the Copa del Rey.

In a few days, we will know for sure. If Real Madrid fails to beat Barcelona, the league title will be almost impossible for the Whites and could spell the end for Carlo Ancelotti at the helm of the team. But if they get the three points and get back into the fight for La Liga, the situation could take a 180-degree turn in favor of Ancelotti, who has always said that he would only leave Real Madrid if he was fired, and maybe he won’t be fired. He is the most successful coach in the club’s history, and he still has a chance to add to his trophy haul with the club, this season and perhaps another.
