Aston Martin has achieved what no one expected to happen this season: it has restored enthusiasm and regained some confidence in the AMR25. The truth is that few believed the team would be able to step up, as reports suggested that it was focused exclusively on 2026, and it seems that this is indeed the case, with the AMR25 seemingly abandoned to its fate and that of Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll. But the truth is that they have worked hard to take a step forward this season and will continue to do so, indirectly, but they will continue.

Imola brings hope back to Aston Martin

Last weekend’s F1 Imola Grand Prix was one of the dates marked on Aston Martin‘s calendar. The first updates were arriving for the AMR25, which until then had been battling with Sauber to avoid being the worst team on the grid. The message to the outside world was one of caution, obviously, since since 2022, all the updates the team had received during each of the seasons already underway had been a step backwards rather than a step forward. But there was hope within the team, as these were the first parts to come out of the new factory, with the new team and the new wind tunnel.

However, the truth is that these parts were made in the Mercedes wind tunnel before Aston Martin’s own wind tunnel was unveiled. However, the final tests before incorporating them into the AMR25 were carried out in the new wind tunnel. And the result was what it was, an important step forward which, unfortunately for the team, was overshadowed by incidents during the race that ruined the team’s strategy. But the final conclusion leaves the team with a very good feeling.

New parts for the AMR25

But Aston Martin is not going to stop with these updates and has already announced that it will continue to bring new parts throughout the season. The aim is to test everything that the regulations allow for the AMR26, next year’s car. Any updates that can be incorporated into the AMR25 will be added. And the good news for Aston Martin is that these are now fully compatible with the new wind tunnel unveiled in March.

The first update will arrive in Monaco, where the team will debut an aerodynamic package specially designed for high-downforce circuits, such as the Monte Carlo track. And in Barcelona, a new front wing will be unveiled—due to the FIA regulation change—along with new suspension, all manufactured using data from Aston Martin’s new wind tunnel.

Once again, Aston Martin is cautious about these new changes ahead of the upcoming races, but the truth is that the team is confident that it will take another step forward, a step that could redefine the team’s objectives, with the possibility of even fighting for podium finishes if everything goes as planned.

Aston Martin has taken an unthinkable leap, a change that no one could have imagined and that now places it at the top of the midfield, and which could be even better with the upcoming updates. The team is asking for calm and caution, but for the first time this season, there is a sense of optimism in the air. Aston Martin is paving the way for 2026, and it seems that it is beginning to find the key.
