Just as at Barça, there have been names such as Lamine Yamal, Pedri, and Raphinha who have been key to the season’s progress with their contributions, while others have been relegated to the shadows. Names such as Ansu Fati, Iñaki Peña, Pau Víctor, and Pablo Torres have been relegated to the bench or even left out of the squad for multiple games this season, with the crucial moment now coming to define their future.
One of those players with an uncertain future is Pablo Torre. The young player signed for FC Barcelona with high expectations for his future. However, although the season started promisingly with minutes and good performances, his role has gradually diminished to nothing. The Cantabrian player ends the season having only played in 12 games. That said, in the 373 minutes he has played, he has scored four goals and provided three assists.
Barça seeks a solution for Pablo Torre
The situation is not ideal, and Barça wants to find a solution for a player whose potential they recognize but are unsure whether he can develop while wearing the blue and red jersey. The player will enter the final year of his contract on July 1. Competition at Barça is fierce with names such as Dani Olmo, Gavi, Fermín, and even Raphinha himself.
The club is considering two options for his future. On the one hand, there is the option of renewal. As we said, the club is aware of the diamond they have in their ranks, but they are also aware that the other option, a transfer, could be complicated given the player’s limited participation this season.
In other words, without the option of a permanent transfer, the idea of another loan, bearing in mind that his contract expires in 2026, would involve the player extending his contract for another two or three seasons. Much of the final decision will depend on the player’s pending conversation with Hansi Flick. Hansi Flick will be clear. He counts on the young Cantabrian player, but he cannot guarantee him playing time.
His case is different from that of Ansu Fati. There, although the situation is very similar, the rope has already been stretched too far and if the club decides to give the player his freedom, provided he forgives the outstanding amount on his contract, he will be able to look for another destination for next season. The same option is being considered for Iñaki Peña.
