The main objective for Aston Martin, Fernando Alonso, and Adrian Newey in 2025 isn’t just to save the current season — it’s to lay the foundation for a title challenge in 2026. That’s when Formula 1’s new regulations kick in, and Aston Martin wants to be at the top from day one.

Alonso and Newey – their first day together on track

It finally happened: Fernando Alonso and Adrian Newey were seen sharing a garage at a Formula 1 race. This weekend in Monaco marked the first time the legendary engineer appeared in green, fulfilling a long-standing wish for both men — to work together.

And they’re already moving. Newey wasted no time in Monaco. He was spotted walking the paddock, analyzing rival cars — especially McLaren, the current leaders. He studied their car up close, looking for details that can only be understood from the front row.

Newey also spent time with his former team, Red Bull, chatting extensively with Christian Horner — exchanging thoughts with the man who led Red Bull during its most dominant era.

Alonso focused on 2026

Despite another disappointing race, Alonso remains committed. For the second weekend in a row, he looked set for points — and once again came away empty-handed. This time, it was the engine that gave out, after struggling from lap 15 onward.

But Alonso didn’t blame luck or make excuses. He acknowledged the disappointment but praised the clear progress of the AMR25, saying the car is “no longer as bad” as it was just weeks ago.

When asked about the upcoming races, his answer was direct — and revealing:

“I want to win in Australia 2026.”

Barcelona: a key milestone

While the focus is 2026, Barcelona is critical. This weekend marks the debut of several new updates for the AMR25 — including a new front wing, new suspension, and other aerodynamic improvements, all developed 100% with the team’s new wind tunnel.

The goal? To prove that these updates work — not just for this season, but to validate the design direction for next year’s car, the AMR26. A solid performance this weekend could confirm they’re on the right track.

A championship partnership in the making

Alonso and Newey are finally working side by side. They’re now meeting at circuits, sharing insights, and shaping the future of Aston Martin together.

The road ahead won’t be easy. Getting to the top of Formula 1 takes relentless effort, sharp execution, and total commitment. But these two are born winners — and they’ll give everything they’ve got to make it happen.

Newey tasted victory recently. Alonso has been chasing it for over 20 years. And now, that dream — winning again in 2026 — feels closer than ever.
