Xabi Alonso is now officially Real Madrid’s head coach: here’s his salary and how much the signing cost

Real Madrid continues to plan for next season with one eye on the Club World Cup. The team needs to strengthen its defense and midfield with players who can move the ball well. But before new players can arrive next season, some players who are not in the team’s plans will have to leave, which will not be an easy task.

Departures from Real Madrid

There are several Real Madrid players who are not in the plans for next season. With the confirmed departures of Lucas Vázquez and Luka Modric, for whom no money will be received, only salary space will be freed up. Now it is time to try to get other players to agree to leave the club.

The first of these is David Alaba. The Austrian footballer, who is reaching the end of his career, has not been able to overcome the serious injury that has kept him off the pitch for over a year. Since his return, not only has he been unable to regain his form, but he has also suffered a string of injuries that have prevented him from getting into the swing of things. The club believes that he will not return to his best form, and as one of the highest-paid players, they want him out. But it will be difficult for him to give up this year.

Fran García is also on his way out. Real Madrid is about to sign a left back, with Mendy being considered given his high defensive level, but the player from La Mancha has not been able to demonstrate that he has what it takes to play for Real Madrid. As is usual in these cases, the player has a very high price tag for clubs that might be interested, and with two years left on his contract, Real Madrid could consider a loan deal, taking on part of his salary.

Doubts about other players

Although he is still in the plans, Mendy could be one of the surprises this summer. His defensive abilities are unquestionable and he could have more market value than Fran García. If the Manchego player does not find a destination, the board could consider letting the French player go. If a good offer comes in for the player, the board will sit down to study it.

The doubts are greater with Eduardo Camavinga. The departure of Luka Modric could work in his favor, as his departure would mean a large outlay for Real Madrid, as they would have to sign a replacement. But, on the other hand, if an offer of around €70 million is received, it is possible that the player and the club could end their relationship. The injury he suffered a month ago, which will keep him out of action for at least another couple of months, complicates the operation.

And finally, the Rodrygo case. There are many doubts about his future, what he wants and whether he will accept the role that Xabi Alonso can offer him, which is still unknown. Real Madrid are aware of the Brazilian’s quality, but they also know that they have two players ahead of him in the same position, Vinicius and Mbappé. On the other hand, Real Madrid could earn around €100 million from his sale, and the Whites could be open to selling.

What is clear is that Real Madrid will sign three players, two of whom are already done deals, Dean Huijsen and Alexander-Arnold, with only the left-back still to be signed. The rest of the signings will depend on which players leave, and they will not leave, at least until the Club World Cup is over, as Xabi Alonso and the board are confident that the current squad can win the tournament that begins in just over two weeks.
