Real Madrid is negotiating the arrival of Alexander-Arnold so that he can play in the Club World Cup. The English footballer would arrive for free on June 30, but Liverpool is demanding a financial compensation to release him early so that he can be registered by the white team. However, Real Madrid has found a way for him to play in the World Cup without having to pay anything for the player.
Arrival of Alexander-Arnold
The arrival of Alexander-Arnold is not confirmed, as Real Madrid is negotiating with Liverpool to sign him before his contract expires, but he is certain to wear white next season.
Initially, the English player was going to arrive for free, as his contract with his current club expires on June 30. However, the Club World Cup has changed everything, as Liverpool would have to release the player so that he could sign with his new team and be registered to participate in the new FIFA tournament, but they do not seem willing to do so for free.
While it is true that they are not asking what should be asked for a transfer of a player of such caliber, they do want a small compensation to facilitate his early departure. We are talking about an amount between 3 and 5 million euros. Real Madrid does not seem to have taken Liverpool’s attitude very well, given that the season is already over in sporting terms, and could make a gesture, especially towards the player, who has spent his entire life at the club and has given everything for the shirt. For this reason, Florentino Pérez is looking for ways to avoid paying anything, has found one, and seems willing to go ahead with it.
FIFA transfer windows for the Club World Cup
FIFA wants teams to have the best players possible for the Club World Cup, which is why it has opened a transfer window before the start of the tournament. This window will close on June 10, just four days before the start of the tournament, meaning that Alexander-Arnold cannot be registered.
However, FIFA has taken into account cases such as that of the English full-back and has opened a second window for registering players, from June 27 to July 3, when the group stage will conclude and the round of 16 will begin.
Alexander-Arnold could arrive at the Club World Cup for free
Real Madrid wants to sign Alexander-Arnold as soon as possible so that he can join Xabi Alonso‘s squad and get into the team dynamic. But Florentino Pérez could refuse to pay Liverpool anything, which means that the player would wear white from July 1, joining the team on that same day and being available for the World Cup.
If this scenario occurs, Real Madrid will not be able to count on the full-back for the first three matches, which will be played against Al Hilal, Pachuca, and RB Salzburg. In principle, Xabi Alonso’s team should have no difficulty qualifying among the top two to seal their place in the round of 16. It is a risk they are willing to take, and they will decide in the coming hours.
Therefore, Real Madrid must decide whether to pay a small amount of money to Liverpool to have Alexander-Arnold available immediately, or whether to wait until he arrives for free on July 1 and register him for the final phase of the Club World Cup.
