Real Madrid continues to plan for next season, knowing that in just 15 days it will face the Club World Cup, which could determine the future of some of its players. The Whites have already begun to make moves to strengthen the team, starting with the defense and aware that the midfield also needs some reinforcement. In order for new players to arrive, some players will have to leave, and as a result, several players at the club are in doubt.
Confirmed departures
The door has officially opened for three players to leave the Whites. Jesús Vallejo announced his departure on Friday.
The Spanish center back will not play in the Club World Cup with a team he joined 10 years ago, but which he leaves having played only 35 games. The defender has spent more time on loan at other teams than defending the Real Madrid jersey. Lucas Vázquez and Luka Modrid will also leave this summer when their contracts expire, but in their case, they will play in the Club World Cup.
The Croatian had an emotional farewell at the Santiago Bernabéu, worthy of a legend who is leaving the club after 13 years of dedication and 28 titles under his belt. Lucas Vázquez also leaves the club with a great track record, although he did not have a big send-off, for the moment, but he did receive an ovation from the fans who are grateful for his commitment to the shirt.
Players with an uncertain future
Several Real Madrid players are not in the plans for next season or whose future is up in the air due to pending talks with Xabi Alonso, who will make the final decision, and because they are looking for new challenges away from the Santiago Bernabéu, where they have not had the opportunities they expected.
- Lunin is one of them. The goalkeeper has a contract until 2030 and the club will not let him leave for less than €20 million. In addition, his high salary could complicate a move sought by the player, who has reached his limit. The Ukrainian is tired of being in Courtois’ shadow and wants to seek a more prominent role away from the Santiago Bernabéu.
- Endrick has also had little playing time under Carlo Ancelotti and has Juventus and Chelsea on his trail. No formal offer has yet reached the Santiago Bernabéu, but Real Madrid, regardless of what Xabi Alonso says, would be open to letting the striker leave.
- Alaba also has the door open. The center back has a contract until 2026 and is clinging to it in the face of a Real Madrid side that wants to get rid of one of the most expensive signings in the squad. Between injuries, age, and poor performance, the player has barely featured for Carlo Ancelotti, and his situation is unlikely to improve with the arrival of reinforcements.
- Fran García is also in the same situation. He is waiting for Xabi Alonso’s decision, but he is aware that the club is working to sign a left-back due to poor performances on that side throughout the season.
- Mendy is the other player on that side who has had a season marred by injuries. He is currently out of action and does not seem to be to Xabi Alonso’s liking, so if an offer comes in, he would not be ruled out.
- Ceballos, for the moment, has his future assured. However, the arrival of new players for the midfield could end up relegating him to a secondary role and force the Utrera-born player to leave the Santiago Bernabéu.
- Rodrygo has been the talk of the town due to his performance and the many suitors looking to sign him from Real Madrid. The player seems determined to stay, and the club is asking him to make an effort to regain his best form and convince Xabi Alonso.
