Everything seems to indicate that Franco Mastantuono will become a Real Madrid player this summer, once the Club World Cup is over and negotiations with River Plate are finalized. Although the Argentine club wants to keep him until the end of the year (end of the Argentine season), Real Madrid does not want to take any risks and wants to sign him as soon as possible.

The signing of Franco Mastantuono

Franco Mastantuono’s determination has been decisive in his move to Real Madrid. It seemed that the deal was done for him to become a new player for the current European champions, PSG. However, the young footballer’s desire to wear the white shirt has changed everything. The magnitude of the club, its history, and the language are all determining factors.

Real Madrid will do everything possible to sign the player for the new season, despite the Argentine club’s desire to keep him until the end of the Clausura tournament at the end of 2025. If that scenario were to arise, the Whites would negotiate a more affordable transfer, but it is a subject that no one at the Valdebebas offices wants to hear about.

Xabi Alonso’s plan for Mastantuono

Real Madrid will not be influenced by what is said about Franco Mastantuono. They know his potential, they know he is a bet for the future and that he has everything it takes to be a great Argentine soccer player… but they know he is very young—he will not be of legal age until August—and that adapting to European soccer will not be easy, just as the pressure of being a Real Madrid player will be complicated, as the Argentine coach Scaloni himself said, “a huge step, a gigantic thing.”

The player can play as a winger and right midfielder, and Xabi Alonso wants to see firsthand which qualities he can exploit best. However, Arda Güler is ahead of him in the rotation, a priori, the biggest competition on the field. It is true that the Turkish player has shone in his last few games in more central positions, organizing the play, which could give the Argentine gem more options. After Modric’s departure, Güler had high hopes, but Real Madrid is not letting its guard down.

The Argentine is not expected to start his career with Real Madrid in an important role as a starter; he will have to earn that in training and in his first games. There is no doubt that, if he has the level, he will end up being an important player in Xabi Alonso’s scheme.

Caution with Mastantuono

But above all, calm. Not a single misstep with the player, who will be under scrutiny by the entire world. A signing of his caliber generates a lot of attention, and Real Madrid hopes that the team’s stars will end up overshadowing the player to ease the pressure so that he can adapt and evolve in the most favorable way for him and for the team’s interests.

Mastantuono is destined to be one of the leading players in world football, but he has his whole career ahead of him, a lot to learn, and a lot of time to develop as a professional. He will have to be patient and learn to handle the pressure of playing for Real Madrid and being a player with such a promising future. Xabi Alonso’s plan is already in place, and all that remains is for the player to finalize the transfer and experience firsthand the magnitude of signing for Real Madrid.
