Peace has lasted a long time at Ferrari, a historically successful team that continues to accumulate failure after failure in every Formula 1 season. The end of last season and the arrival of Hamilton for this one raised expectations, and there were reasons for that, but the season has proven to be a real disaster. Leclerc and Vasseur could leave the team, albeit for different reasons.

Crisis at Ferrari

Who would have told Carlos Sainz what was going to happen at Ferrari after he left the team? While it is true that in recent seasons the team has not been in contention for the title, there was a certain peace within the team, something that is no longer the case this season. And it is true that in the upper echelons of the legendary Italian team, patience is running out.

Vasseur signed a two-year contract with Ferrari, replacing Mattia Binotto as team principal. The truth is that in this season and a half at the helm of the team, there does not seem to have been any change from the previous management.

Two of Italy’s major media outlets have simultaneously and independently reported that the Ferrari team is seriously considering not renewing the Frenchman’s contract for the new era of F1. Both suggest that the team is not at all satisfied with the work he has been doing in recent seasons, seeing him as lacking in ideas and leadership. It should not be forgotten that Vasseur has had a successful career in F2, but in the top flight of motor racing, he has not been able to prove anything during his career.

Leclerc considers his contract

What seemed like a relationship that would last forever between Leclerc and Ferrari could come to an end next season, and it is the Monegasque who is making moves for a possible departure. Charles is getting tired of waiting, and everything points to Ferrari’s negative streak extending beyond the arrival of the new regulations. Leclerc has a contract with the team until 2029, but he could leave at the end of this season as stipulated in his contract. Although it would be risky to leave the team at the end of this season, as the rule change could bring surprises on next year’s grid.

Charles Leclerc wants to be world champion, and he is increasingly convinced that achieving this with Ferrari may not be possible. The Italian team is the eternal contender, but the truth is that it has not won a drivers’ championship since 2007 and a constructors’ championship since 2008, which is the worst streak in the team’s history, and everything suggests that this streak will continue this year and next, at the very least.

Carlos Sainz and his departure from Ferrari

Carlos Sainz‘s departure from Ferrari was traumatic because of when and how it happened. At the beginning of last season, before the cars hit the track, it was announced that Hamilton would take his seat this season. However, his performance was outstanding, he achieved victories, and he left on a high note despite the team turning its back on him.

There were no problems within the team, unlike now, where everything seems to have blown up. The reality for both has taken a major turn: while Williams is one of the revelations of the season, Ferrari has seen poor results and how the Madrid native is putting the screws on them from the FW47. F1 is a very volatile world, and what may seem bad can turn out to be positive. The asphalt rules in this sport, and the asphalt is once again exposing Ferrari.
