FC Barcelona has had an outstanding season, emerging as the brand new champion of La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup. This great success under Hansi Flick is now set to continue as the team goes for its ultimate goal, which is none other than the Champions League. After such a great season, a quiet summer was expected for the Azulgrana, partly due to the results and partly due to its financial situation, but the truth is that an XXL transfer market is expected with many moves
Confirmed, certain and uncertain departures
Perhaps the most important task for Deco is to finalize the departures as soon as possible to know the fair play he will have in order to sign players. For the moment, he has already closed the sale of Alex Valle to Como and the departure of Lenglet to Atlético Madrid. These are two necessary moves that must be followed by several more to lighten the squad.
The first departure to be finalized will be that of Ansu Fati. The player will leave for Monaco with just a few details to be finalized, such as the terms of his departure, the amount for which the transfer will be closed, and the purchase option to be included in the loan agreement. In the latter case, Barça wants the Monegasque club to take on the player’s entire salary. Ansu will leave Barcelona after playing virtually nothing, less than 300 minutes throughout the season.
The other departures that Barça hopes to finalize are those of Pablo Torre, who has no place in the team, although the club is committed to his talent, so he could renew his contract and leave on a permanent transfer or on loan with an option to buy. A destination is also being sought for goalkeeper Iñaki Peña, who has been ostracised for much of the season.
There are a number of other players whose future is still undecided, although they look set to leave. This is the case with Pau Víctor, who is awaiting talks and the club’s moves before making a final decision. Gerard Martín has increased his value in recent months and several Premier League clubs have shown interest, which means that Barça could open the door if an offer above $12 million arrives.
As for Ter Stegen, the club must talk to the player, with whom the situation is very tense given the arrival of Joan García and the news leaked about the captain’s departure. There are suitors and we will have to see what happens. Between Christensen and Araújo, everything indicates that one of the two will leave in the summer.
The list of signings
FC Barcelona, although yet to make it official, has completed the signing of goalkeeper Joan García, but everything points to this not being the only signing this summer. The Azulgrana are clear that they want a left winger, a position for which Luis Díaz is the favorite, but the list also includes the long-standing target Nico Williams and Rashford, who wants to join the Camp Nou. In addition, there is talk that Hansi Flick has a free option in mind in the form of Perisic. The club is also close to signing youngster Cardoso Varela. Furthermore, with the possible departure of Gerard Martín, the Catalan club has already moved dates and has Alejandro Grimaldo or Caio Henrique on its agenda.
