No progress. Ansu Fati‘s departure for Monaco seemed a done deal a few weeks ago, but negotiations are stalled and the points of disagreement between the two clubs continue to delay the final signing, which should take place in the coming days, before June 30. The Monegasque coach wants all his new signings back in training before the end of the month.
As of today… no agreement
Ansu Fati’s departure was decided months ago. The forward has had a very difficult season at FC Barcelona, where he has only played 298 minutes in eleven games, even being left out of the squad for several matches throughout the season. The situation was untenable and leaving was the only viable option.
With that clear, Monaco entered the scene and the deal was considered to be at an advanced stage in the final stretch of LaLiga. However, it is now at a standstill due to a lack of agreement on key points such as the financial side of the deal and even the form it will take. Two options have been proposed: a transfer with a buy-back clause or a loan with an option to buy, but so far nothing has been finalized, largely due to the player’s high salary, on which the two clubs cannot agree, as well as the figure for the possible transfer or buy-back clause.
Need for space
His departure is not a trivial matter. The Azulgrana team needs to finalize the player’s departure as his large salary, 12 million euros, occupies a space that needs to be freed up for the arrival of Joan García and the progress being made to sign Nico Williams, who would fill the gap left by the youth player. Financial needs are paramount and it is urgent to close the deal as soon as possible. What is clear is that the Azulgrana team wants to part ways with the player and save his salary at all costs.
This is not the only departure being worked on
The need to free up space also focuses on other players. The club is clear that Pablo Torre and Iñaki Peña will have to find a new destination this summer. The young Cantabrian is highly regarded, and so a deal is being sought that will allow the club to retain control over his future, either with a renewal and subsequent loan, or with a transfer with an affordable buy-back option to be able to recover the player in the future. The case of the goalkeeper is different, as his high salary makes it difficult for interested teams to close a transfer, and the option of terminating his contract is not at all attractive for the Azulgrana team, which would lose money on a player who has been condemned to ostracism.
The door is not closed to the departure of players such as Pau Víctor, who wants playing time that he will not be able to get at Barcelona, or, if necessary and a lucrative offer arrives, to names such as Gerard Martín or Fermín López.
