Another game to forget for Rodrygo: Franco Mastantuono is knocking on the door

Güler demands his place from Xabi Alonso, and Modric makes his case

Amidst the euphoria surrounding Aston Martin, an important voice within the team, that of the owner’s son and Fernando Alonso‘s teammate, Lance Stroll, has surprised everyone with some harsh statements about the AMR25 and how the car is performing this season. His results continue to be very poor, and he is lashing out at the team.

Lance Stroll accumulates poor results

It is true that only Fernando Alonso seems to have noticed the new improvements to the AMR25 that were introduced at Imola on May 18. Since that day, the Spaniard has qualified in the top ten in all four races and finished in the points in the last two. However, Stroll, who denies that the car has improved, also managed to get into Q3 in Italy, but that was all. His race results have been disastrous, and in Canada, despite the circuit being favorable for Aston Martin, he crossed the finish line in last place.

Aston Martin, although cautious, are satisfied with the work and improvements, unlike Lance Stroll, who continues to see the AMR25 as the worst car on the grid.

“I really don’t feel any difference in the car. Maybe (Alonso) has achieved good results and he feels good with the car, but I don’t know. Today I felt very slow again.”

“I have to look at it, I don’t know, but I would say there is nothing positive. The truth is, there isn’t. I have nothing positive to take away from the day. I know we are slow.”

This contrasts sharply with Fernando Alonso, who is smiling again, fighting for points and saying he is enjoying himself on the track, despite continuing to ask the team to improve aspects that he believes are still lacking in the car, such as top speed and tire wear.

Stroll pessimistic for Austria

Before the next updates arrive, scheduled for the Silverstone GP, the Austrian race is coming up, a circuit that shouldn’t go badly for Aston Martin, although it can’t be compared to Canada. However, Lance Stroll has no hope and expects nothing positive from the next race.

“I have a strong feeling that it’s going to be more of the same again in Austria, because the car has characteristics that never change. And there are problems, there are limitations that I honestly feel never change, so it’s probably going to be the same thing over and over again.”

Lance Stroll is having a difficult season. Despite being ahead of the Spaniard in the Drivers’ Championship, thanks to the first two races where incidents allowed him to score important points, his performance is more in question than ever. He is always behind his teammate, crossing the finish line in the last positions on the grid, and with the incident in Barcelona with the team that ended with the driver in the operating room (it was never really known what happened there and whether the injury was from before or was the result of the shouting and blows that were heard).

The truth is that the Canadian’s reputation is being compromised. The results are not there, and more and more people believe that he is still behind the wheel because he is the son of the owner. The truth is that Lance Stroll had always been competitive and had proven that he earned his place in F1, but in recent seasons he has been performing at a level that warrants him being dropped, something that, for the moment, is not going to happen. The truth is that his statements, given who he is, are very damaging to a team that is still fighting to become a major force next season.
