The F1 season continues and this weekend the Grand Circus returns to Europe with the Austrian Grand Prix, where Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin will seek to maintain the mixed feelings of the last four races, where they have managed to finish in the top ten and score points in the last two races.

Aston Martin continues to work

It has been said time and time again that Aston Martin has most of its resources focused on 2026, when it hopes to take an important step forward that will allow it to fight for the World Championship. It is an ambitious and complicated step, but one that is within reach given the amount of resources invested to achieve it. However, as in other sports, money does not buy championships, and there are other factors that determine success, such as human effort and teamwork.

And although most of the work is focused on next season, efforts are still being made to improve this season. A team remains dedicated exclusively to the AMR25, trying to take another step forward between now and the end of the season, as this year’s performance and improvements are the foundation for getting closer to next year’s goals. In fact, the Aston Martin team is preparing improvements, and these improvements are also for the AMR25, as many elements that will be used for next season are going to be tested, so it is vital to get it right. It will be a way of confirming that the path being followed is the right one.

New improvements for Aston Martin

The new package of improvements at Aston Martin is aimed at improving the car’s biggest problems this season, all of which stem from aerodynamics. The deficit is evident in top speed: the AMR25 is one of the slowest cars on the straights, and the changes are expected to make the cars faster. The car is capable of holding its own for a few laps at the highest level, but once the tires fail, the car becomes vulnerable. This is the second aspect they hope to improve: with more effective aerodynamics, the load on the wheels will be lower and therefore wear will be reduced.

The Silverstone team has the improvements ready, and Fernando Alonso hopes to make a significant leap forward with the AMR25 between now and the end of the season. This is expected to be the last package for this year, and the car may continue to be a test bed for sporadic parts, but there will be no more upgrade packages like this one.

Will there be updates in Austria?

Everything indicates that this latest package of updates will not be available in Austria. They are expected to arrive next week at the F1 Silverstone Grand Prix, just a few meters from the Aston Martin factory. The team is still finalizing the parts in the wind tunnel. They don’t want to make any missteps and want to be 100% sure that whatever they put on the AMR25 will work.

Therefore, Fernando Alonso will have to wait a little longer to benefit from the new upgrade package for the AMR25. It will not be available in Austria, but it will arrive. For this race, which in principle does not look bad for the characteristics of the Aston Martin—although they are not the most ideal either—he will have to make do with what he has and try to get the most out of the car to get it back into the top ten on Saturday, which will be the only option to get it into the points on Sunday, provided there are no race incidents that could turn everything upside down.
