It’s official: Camp Nou will reopen its doors on August 10 after more than two years away, with the Joan Gamper Trophy as the opening event. FC Barcelona announced the news on social media on Wednesday. The news comes a day after the city of Barcelona witnessed the “We’re coming home, we’re buzzing” campaign.
Homecoming
The return to Camp Nou is a key moment for the Barça team after two years playing at the Estadi Olímpic Lluís Companys. However, it should be noted that the return home will take place while work on the Spotify Camp Nou continues, so it will be necessary to live with construction in different areas of the stadium.

Among the work still to be completed are the construction of the new third stand, the double VIP ring, the installation of the roof, as well as the final adaptation of some interior spaces and the exterior development of the stadium’s surroundings, according to the club’s official statement.
The return date
The return home will take place on Sunday, August 10, 2025. It will be on the occasion of the Joan Gamper Trophy, which does not yet have a confirmed opponent, although everything points to it being Cesc Fábregas’ Italian club, Como. As for the capacity for that match, it is expected that the match will be played in front of at least 25,000 spectators. This is fewer than the 60,000 spectators expected to attend the first LaLiga matches. Before the traditional match, a mock match will be held, for which volunteers are being sought. This is to check access and security. The Barça team has not yet put tickets for the Joan Gamper match on sale, but they are expected to be available about two weeks before the match on the club’s official channels. Currently, the only tickets on sale are VIP seats at the Camp Nou.
Turf and lighting ready
There is still work to be done, and the club will try to ensure that this affects the comfort and safety of fans as little as possible, but the most important things are now ready to go. The turf has been laid, and several tests have been carried out on the LED lighting that will create a festive atmosphere in the stadium. In addition, temporary floodlights have been installed to light the pitch for the return leg.
