Lewis Hamilton is proving to be one of the disappointments of the season, alongside Ferrari, who are once again leading the way in the F1 nonsense. The eternal title contender is heading for another year to forget, despite the season looking promising at the start of the year. After a strong finish to last season, where they appeared to have the best car, and with the arrival of the Englishman, expectations were sky high, but once again, it was a huge disappointment.

Ferrari extends its drought

And what a disappointment it was, because this year it seemed like they had it all going for them. With regulations that were virtually unchanged from last year, and after finishing the 2024 World Championship standing tall and beating McLaren (by then they had already secured the world championship), 2025 was the year to win again, something no driver has achieved since 2007, and something the team has not achieved as a team since 2008. Too long for the team that remains the icon of F1, the team where everyone wants to drive, and where today’s drivers dream of returning the Italians to the top, but no one has managed it, not even world champions such as Alonso, Vettel and now Hamilton.

Hamilton, another problem

Lewis Hamilton has arrived at Ferrari to live the dream of almost every F1 driver, to wear red, and he is doing so in the final stretch of his career. But things are far from how he had imagined, the fairy tale he had imagined has turned into a nightmare. He has encountered a new disaster at the team, but the seven-time world champion is also unable to reach the level of Chales Leclerc, who is very well suited to the car.

The Englishman has been involved in several tense episodes with the team, insinuating that his teammate had a better car, for example, or clashing with his engineers over the radio, creating an atmosphere of tension that did not exist years ago, perhaps due to the demands generated by a driver like the Englishman, or perhaps because the atmosphere was more relaxed with Carlos Sainz.

Hamilton and Ferrari’s problems

The English driver has added fuel to the fire, and he does so in a way that suggests he doesn’t want to say anything, but he does, hinting that there is a problem, but it’s better not to talk about it…

“There are so many things I wish I could tell you to explain what has happened this year, the problems we have had and what is going on within the organization… But my goal is to try to influence positively, to try to bring about changes so that we can be successful in the long term.”

Hamilton says the SF-25 needs “an update” if they want to have any chance this season, but although he believes they will bring “something,” he does not think “it will be much.” “It’s one of those years…,” a bad one that does not seem fixable.

Even so, he insists that since he got behind the wheel of the Ferrari and saw the problems, he has not stopped asking for improvements, improvements that have not come. Perhaps Ferrari, like many other teams, is more focused on 2026 (a year that also raises doubts for Ferrari). “Of course I’m asking for these things. I don’t know why we haven’t been bringing improvements.”

Once again, Ferrari is proving to be one of the big disappointments of F1. Once again, they started out as big title contenders, but once again, they don’t seem to be up to the task. And as we say, the news coming in for 2026 does not look optimistic, and that is saying a lot for a team that is always very hopeful about new seasons despite continuing to extend its worst winning streak in its history.
