Pablo Torre is one of the names on the market for FC Barcelona. The player has publicly stated that he wants playing time, which he has not had and does not seem likely to get with Hansi Flick and the high level of competition in that area of the pitch. In Barcelona, they are clear that the best option is to find a way out for the player, but while retaining some control over his future, as they are aware that his talent is undeniable and want to give him continuity to grow and be able to bring him back in the future.
Pablo Torre claims his place
Pablo Torre has ended the season with hardly any playing time. He started the season as an alternative for Hansi Flick, who, however, as the games went by, condemned him to ostracism given the competition from names such as Gavi and Fermín López, who are ahead of him in the rotation. The Cantabrian player ended the season having played only 12 games. However, in the 373 minutes he has had, he has scored four goals and provided three assists.
With these figures, the player has not hesitated to publicly state that he has not been happy with his involvement under Hansi Flick and that he wants more minutes. “I don’t think I was out of place when I was on the pitch. These are things that the coach decides, it’s true that there were no injuries and so it’s also very difficult for him to choose. I respect his decisions, but I haven’t always understood them. There was a lot of competition and it was difficult to get in, but I think that part wasn’t fair either, and I told him that in a conversation I had with him. When I played, I did very well and I think I deserved much more,” he explained in an interview.
The formula for his departure
The best way for the player to get playing time is to leave, and there are two options, although one is preferred by a club that needs to free up as much salary as possible. The player’s contract with FC Barcelona expires in 2026, so in order to go out on loan, he would first have to renew his contract and then be transferred to a club where he would get playing time and a leading role. The problem with this option is that, as with Ansu Fati, Barcelona would continue to pay part of his salary.
The club is aware of what a gem the player is, and although his lack of playing time could complicate the transfer, it is the preferred option for Barcelona, who are looking to make some money from his departure while retaining an affordable buy-back option.
Barcelona and Mallorca are already negotiating
Among the long list of clubs that have shown interest in the player, Mallorca has taken the lead in securing the services of the 23-year-old footballer. Barça would like to finalize the deal before the end of the 2024-25 financial year on Monday, June 30, in order to generate fair play. Both clubs are already in talks to find the best formula for the player to move to Mallorca ahead of the other options available to him. LaLiga clubs such as Osasuna, Valencia, Sevilla, Celta, Betis, and Real Sociedad have inquired about him, but they are not the only ones. Bayer Leverkusen in Germany and Lazio in Italy are also said to have him on their radar. There is also interest from England, France, and the Netherlands.
