Gonzalo García is the talk of the town after his impressive performance in the Club World Cup, forcing Real Madrid to make decisions about his future. The player is knocking on the door of the first team with a great tournament that has the Whites considering making room for him in the starting lineup, while suitors, led by the Premier League, are lying in wait. The club has set a date for the final decision on the player.

Gonzalo, star of the World Cup

One of the names making headlines at Real Madrid during the Club World Cup is undoubtedly Gonzalo García. The youth player said that this World Cup is the opportunity of his life and he is fighting tooth and nail to seize it. In four games played in the tournament, the forward has started in all of them, scoring three goals and providing one assist, while also playing a key role in every game, creating chances and showing great mobility in all matches.

The player has surprised even Xabi Alonso, who, although he had confidence in him and gave him the opportunity, did not expect this huge performance, which now puts him in the difficult position of having to choose between Kylian Mbappé, who is recovering from injury, and Gonzalo, who is on a roll, for the front line.

Multiple suitors

Before the World Cup, Gonzalo García already had suitors within LaLiga, but his great tournament has raised interest in the striker, who is now being fought over in the Premier League. There is already talk of a value of around €25 million, which limits many of the teams that wanted to sign him, such as Osasuna. We will have to see what happens and how Mbappé’s return fits in, but it does not seem that Real Madrid is willing to let the player go at this point.

Gonzalo’s future in his own words

“I know I’m experiencing something really big: four games in a row as a starter, three goals, being one of the best players in the tournament… it’s all happened so fast in just 15 days. There’s no time to take it all in because we play every three days and we have to stay focused, but I’m clear about what this opportunity means to me. I don’t know where my ability to finish with my head comes from. Everyone tells me, but I just try to be in the right position to score, whether it’s with my head, my hip or my knee. The important thing is that the ball goes in,“ said the striker after beating Juventus thanks to his goal.

The player was questioned again about his future, as with the great tournament he is having, not only Real Madrid are considering making room for him in the first team, but several clubs in Europe have him on their radar. ”As for the future, I’m not thinking about that right now. I’m completely focused on the World Cup. Whatever happens, happens. I’m just thinking about giving 100% every chance I get. I don’t know if I’ll be in the first team. That decision is not in my hands. It will depend on the coach and the club. As I’ve said, this World Cup is the opportunity of a lifetime and I’m going to give 200 or even 300% to make the most of it in this shirt.”

Real Madrid makes a decision

Real Madrid is on the same page as the player. According to Melchor Ruiz, despite the multitude of suitors, Real Madrid will wait until the end of the tournament to decide on his future, which could also depend on what happens with Endrick and Rodrygo.
