As has become clear with the failure to sign Nico Williams due to the inability to guarantee his registration, FC Barcelona needs to make some sales that will generate income, but above all, that will free up enough salary cap space to be able to register Joan García and a few other signings that are currently being negotiated. It is hoped that this space can be created without any painful sales, but there are candidates within the squad who could fetch millions.

The 1:1 ratio is getting closer… but the situation is still complicated

The Barça team is taking steps towards financial recovery, but has not yet entered the 1:1 rule, which means that for every euro earned, another can be spent. In the midst of this quest for financial improvement, UEFA has fined FC Barcelona a total of €60 million, of which €15 million is mandatory and the remaining €45 million is conditional, for breaching Fair Play rules. In addition to the financial penalty, the agreement includes restrictions on the registration of new players on the A list for European competitions. In order to be able to register new signings, the club is also working on departures, such as Ansu Fati’s loan move to Monaco, which will free up half of his hefty salary, and Pablo Torre’s transfer to Mallorca for €5 million, which is about to be finalized.

Departures on the horizon

The first of the planned departures, as we said, has already been finalized with the loan of Ansu Fati, who is already working with Monaco. In addition, Pablo Torre’s signing for Mallorca is about to be finalized. Beyond these advanced negotiations, there are other players with the door open, such as Pau Víctor, with Real Betis as the most likely destination; Iñaki Peña, who is looking abroad; and Andreas Christensen, who has been chosen to leave an overbooked defense, although the player is reluctant to leave the Barça team. On the other hand, there is the case of Ter Stegen. The club wants to let him go, but the captain is adamant about wanting to stay with the team, which will complicate matters in the crucial days ahead.

As was made clear with the problem with the signing of Nico Williams, the need is urgent as there is no guarantee at the moment that the new signings will be able to be registered, which leaves open the possibility of having to make a sale that was not initially planned, but which could leave a good amount of money in the club’s coffers, which would help with fair play.

In this regard, there are several candidates on the table, such as Ronald Araújo, whose release clause has been reduced to $65 million for another week, Ferran Torres, who is being pursued by Aston Villa, which could offer around £35 million, and Marc Casadó, who has also generated interest in the market in recent days. Juicy offers will be considered, starting at €30 million for the midfielder who is on Chelsea’s agenda. What seems to have been ruled out is the departure of Fermín López, despite the interest he has attracted in the market.
