The transfer market is red hot and the big clubs of the old continent continue to comb through it in search of opportunities or big moves to strengthen their squads. One of them is undoubtedly Bayern Munich, who were interested in Florian Wirtz, who ended up signing for Liverpool after leaving Bayer Leverkusen in exchange for a million-dollar transfer.

Now, the Bavarians urgently need a playmaker, as they have suffered a serious injury to their squad in the quarterfinals of the World Cup currently being played in the United States: Jamal Musiala. Jamal Musiala, 22, is one of the biggest stars in the football world and is currently one of the best players in Bayern Munich’s squad.

The German international stands out for his quality, but he will be out of action for several months after the painful injury he suffered against PSG in the quarterfinals of the Club World Cup 2025. The Allianz Arena team has to turn to the market to replace this significant loss, which they hope to remedy in the best possible way, although they are aware that they will have to spend a lot of money.

One of the perfect replacements for Jamal Musiala would have been Florian Wirtz. The Pulheim native has been one of the big stars at Bayer Leverkusen in recent seasons, but once Xabi Alonso left the Aspirin club, many decided to pack their bags. One of them was the German international, who had offers from all the big European teams, but in the end it was Liverpool who secured his services. However, the Reds had to pay a hefty price tag of €150 million for his signing.

Jamal Musiala’s injury

Jamal Musiala was injured, as we have already mentioned, in the quarterfinals of the 2025 Club World Cup in Bayern Munich’s 2-0 defeat to PSG. The young Bayern Munich player fought for the ball until the end and Gianluigi Donnarumma, who came out of his goal to also challenge for the ball, brought him down. The German went straight to the ground in obvious pain, while everyone around him, alarmed, quickly called for medical assistance due to the seriousness of the situation.

The Bayern Munich player suffered a broken fibula and a dislocated ankle and has already undergone successful surgery. Jamal Musiala, who spoke after the operation, said that Donnarumma was not to blame and that it was just one of those things that happens in football. Despite these words, the German midfielder will miss between five and six months of competition, meaning he will miss a large part of next season.

Xavi Simons, made in La Masía

Jamal Musiala’s time on the sidelines forces Bayern Munich to turn to the transfer market to find a reliable replacement to fight for the Bundesliga and the Champions League, as well as to provide goals for Harry Kane, who has broken his title drought. The Bavarian club’s choice is Xavi Simons, a player trained at La Masía, according to The Athletic.

Xavi Simons currently plays for RB Leipzig, who paid PSG €50 million for him, and it seems he would like to take a step forward in his career. The Dutch international arrived at the Parc des Princes on a free transfer after ending his contract with Barcelona following nine years at La Masía. Many spoke of financial demands despite his young age, but those close to him have assured that his move was due to the sporting project, as he believed it would be difficult for him to break into the first team at Barcelona.
