Confirmed: Rodrygo to leave Real Madrid, and several top clubs are already in the race

Rodrygo Goes is not in Real Madrid‘s plans and the player could be increasingly open to a move this summer in search of a leading role that he is not going to have at the club. The Brazilian ended the Club World Cup with only 92 minutes played in three games. This poor record shows that he has no place in Xabi Alonso’s new project. The coach opted to give the player a chance, but it did not work out and now the door is open for him to leave.

An unsustainable situation at Real Madrid

Rodrygo has played a key role at Real Madrid in recent seasons, but he currently has a secondary role that is making his departure from the club more likely. The Brazilian’s season has been the worst he has experienced as a Real Madrid player, both in terms of performance and playing time, as demonstrated by the Club World Cup.

In the Carlo Ancelotti era, his last game was on April 26 in the Copa del Rey final. From then on, he entered a mental block and was left out of the team at his own request. Xabi Alonso was asked about the player upon his arrival and wanted to give him confidence, but nothing changed. He gave him a starting spot in the first game of the tournament against Al Hilal, but his performance was not the best, hindering the team more than contributing to it. He was very passive, waiting for the ball to come to him and not showing any force when pressing.

From then on, the player was no longer a starter, even failing to get any minutes in several of the games played by the Whites. Against PSG, he did not play a single minute, despite the nature of the game, which has further fueled speculation about his future.

His departure is getting closer

This week will be key in making a final decision about his future as, according to Fabrizio Romano, there will be a conversation between the player’s entourage and the club. Rodrygo is expected to leave Real Madrid this summer and join a Premier League club of his own choosing. He not only has suitors in the English league, with PSG and Bayern Munich also mentioned, but the main contender is an English club.

Arsenal have been pursuing the Brazilian player for months and there has even been speculation that they are willing to put an offer of $90 million on the table. The truth is that, according to Diario AS, no formal offer for the player has yet reached the offices of the Spanish club, which wants to get $100 million from the deal.

Liverpool joins the list

The aforementioned source indicates that a new team has joined the bidding for Rodrygo. That team is Liverpool. Luis Díaz’s future seems increasingly distant from the English club, with Barcelona and Bayern Munich as the main candidates to sign the player for next season. According to Sacha Tavolieri, a correspondent for RMC Sport, Liverpool would only sign Rodrygo if the Colombian leaves, competing directly with Arsenal for Real Madrid’s number 11.
