Barcelona gains time with Luis Díaz: Liverpool rejects Bayern’s offer

The summer promises to be a long one for Luis Díaz. The Colombian continues to wait for his future to be decided, but it does not look like it will be resolved in the coming days. Liverpool are aware of the interest shown by Bayern Munich and Barcelona, so, as he has a contract until 2027, they hope to get a good deal for the Colombian’s transfer. In fact, the Germans have already put their first official offer on the table for the former Porto player, but the Reds have not wavered in their decision to reject it.

As everyone knows, Barcelona is going to face tough negotiations with Liverpool if it wants to secure the services of Luis Díaz. And it will not only be the transfer fee, but also the subsequent registration, as it should be remembered that Nico Williams is not a Barcelona player because the Spanish international did not have a guarantee of being registered in LaLiga. That is why the Camp Nou offices also have other options on the table, most of them cheaper, but they will have to evaluate all the alternatives to try to strengthen Hansi Flick’s squad as soon as possible.

Liverpool says “no”

According to The Athletic, Liverpool has already rejected the first formal offer that Bayern Munich has made for the Colombian winger. The Germans reportedly offered around €67.5 million, but the English club rejected the offer. This information suggests that the Reds‘ management did not even consider the proposal from the Allianz Arena, who want to secure the services of Luis Díaz before Barcelona has any room for maneuver in his signing.

In Germany, more specifically in the newspaper Bild, they claim that Vincent Kompany, Bayern Munich’s coach, held a virtual meeting with Luis Díaz himself to try to convince him to join his project. This information reveals that the Colombian was pleased and would be willing to leave Liverpool to start a new adventure in the Bundesliga, but for that to happen, there must first be an agreement between the German and British clubs, which seems unlikely to happen in the short term.

Luis Díaz, waiting

Luis Díaz is clear that he wants to leave Anfield, which is why he has already put pressure on the English club. The Colombian has reportedly given Liverpool an ultimatum with a clear message: either they renew his contract or they sell him. This is where the former Porto player is playing both sides, as if he gets a significant pay rise, he could continue to play for the British club,

but if they do not grant his request, he would start a new adventure away from the Premier League, as the clubs that are closely and seriously following him are Bayern Munich and Barcelona, the team he has supported since childhood, as has become known in recent months.

Luis Díaz’s contract with Liverpool expires in 2027, so the English club is not going to give the Colombian away to direct rivals in the Champions League. The big problem for the Colombian is the figure being asked by the British club, as very few teams in the world can afford it. There is speculation that Anfield would start to consider selling the Colombian international if an offer of between €80 and €90 million were to arrive, so the summer could be a very long one for the player.
