After leaving Real Madrid, Lucas Vázquez could be heading to Serie A: his two possible destinations

Lucas Vázquez’s time at Real Madrid has come to an end. It has been a difficult year for him and for the team, and the Galician full-back had no place in the rebuilding process. The player had an emotional farewell ceremony to bid farewell to a player whom Florentino described as an example for the youth academy. Now it’s time to start a new chapter that could see the Curtis native head to Serie A.

Emotional farewell for Lucas Vázquez

Lucas Vázquez said goodbye to the club of his life, visibly moved. Wearing the Real Madrid jersey, the winger-turned-full-back played 402 games, scoring 38 goals, providing 61 assists and winning 19 titles, including five Champions Leagues.

“This is one of the most important days of my life. I want to thank the fans for their constant support. I have had the privilege of winning titles, sharing a dressing room with legends and experiencing unforgettable nights. I have been very happy, I have felt valued, respected and loved. I would like to thank President Florentino Pérez from the bottom of my heart for giving me the opportunity to fulfill my dream. Your trust in me has allowed me to become the player and person I am today,“ he began his speech.

”I leave with a clear conscience, I have given everything I had inside me. I have fulfilled my lifelong dream at the biggest club in the world. There is no greater pride. I am leaving, but Real Madrid will always be in my heart. I am and always will be Lucas Vázquez, a Real Madrid youth player,” he said emotionally.

A difficult season

Lucas Vázquez arrived at Real Madrid in 2007 at the age of 16 and has played in all the club’s youth teams before reaching the first team after a year on loan at Espanyol in 2015. Since then, he has played 402 games in 10 seasons, during one of the most successful periods in Real Madrid’s history.

He leaves having won 23 titles: five European Cups, five Club World Cups, four European Super Cups, four La Liga titles, one Copa del Rey and four Spanish Super Cups.

However, his departure comes after a disappointing season for the Galician full-back, who has not performed at the expected level. With Dani Carvajal out of the equation, Lucas Vázquez had to step up on the right wing, but he was outplayed in many games, with Carlo Ancelotti opting to convert Fede Valverde. It has not been the team’s year, nor his, but he leaves with the affection of the fans and an extensive list of titles to his name.

Two Italian giants on the prowl

A new chapter is now beginning for Lucas Vázquez, who has yet to make his future official. In principle, the player’s wish would be to follow in the footsteps of his teammate Luka Modric and continue competing at the highest level in Europe, but the best offers are coming from Arab football. Al-Gharafa in Qatar has shown interest in signing him, where he could be reunited with his former teammate Joselu. There is also the possibility of a move to MLS.

Everything could go the way the player wants, as two major Serie A clubs have the full-back on their radar. We are talking about Juventus and Milan. Both are looking for a right-back and Lucas Vázquez appears on the list of both teams as a possible reinforcement. The latter already has Modric on its roster, which could be a plus for the full-back’s arrival. In addition, they also have Fran García on their agenda for the other side of the defense.
