Real Madrid has urgent needs for next season in terms of signings. The midfield is a priority, and players are needed to strengthen this key position. However, the team has a problem, and for the moment, it is not possible to make any signings, and Florentino Pérez has already informed Xabi Alonso of this.

Real Madrid and future reinforcements

Real Madrid has signed three players so far this summer: Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and Álvaro Carreras. With these three signings, the defense is set for next season.

Now it’s time to strengthen the midfield: Güler’s conversion does not seem sufficient or a long-term solution at Real Madrid. It is true that the Turkish player has shown that he can take the helm of the team, but one or two players are needed to reinforce a midfield that suffered greatly last season and is even more depleted with the departure of Luka Modric.

Gonzalo seems to be the solution up front. Xabi Alonso put his faith in him in the Club World Cup, and the player ended the tournament with the Golden Boot, thanks to the merit of the youth player and the coach for taking such a risk. There was an urgent need for a number 9, but it seems that the striker from the youth academy has dispelled those concerns.

Real Madrid, unable to sign players

It is not a financial problem, and although Real Madrid has spent a lot of money so far this summer, it has enough to sign more players. The problem is that the squad is now complete. LaLiga allows a maximum of 25 players to be registered for the season. Right now, Real Madrid’s official squad is made up of 22 players, but Raúl Asencio and Gonzalo, who will be registered with the first team, and Franco Mastantuono, who will join the club on August 15, have yet to be included.

Therefore, as of today, the squad is complete, and in order to bring in reinforcements, which are necessary, there have to be departures, and that is what the club is working on, finding destinations for some of its players.

The options being considered by Real Madrid

Several players could leave the team this summer, but for that to happen, offers have to be made that convince both the club and the players. One of the players who is causing the most talk this summer is Rodrygo: Xabi Alonso has already made it clear that he will not be an important player, and the club understands that he will have a lot of competition and that they could get a good sum of money for him. However, Valdebebas does not want to sell the player at a loss and is acting cautiously, waiting for an offer to come in.

Another player who has been linked with a move in recent days is Ceballos. But the Andalusian midfielder is not the player the Whites want to let go. Betis offered €5 million, and Real Madrid would be willing to release the player for €20 million, a figure that is far from being agreed upon.

The other options to free up the squad are Mendy, Fran García, and Alaba. In the case of the left-backs, the idea is to keep one of the two, Carreras’ substitute, and let the other seek his fortune elsewhere. Alaba’s case is more complicated: the Austrian footballer has not been able to recover from his serious cruciate ligament injury at the end of 2023. Since his return to the pitch, he has suffered injury after injury and has been far from his best. He has one year left on his contract and is on the club’s highest salary, so the only option available to the club is to pay him for the remaining year and release him, but they do not want to be seen to be treating the player badly, so they will have to sit down and negotiate to reach an agreement.

Real Madrid cannot sign any players for next season. It has 25 players in its first team and does not want to leave any of them without a contract, so it will have to sell if it wants to bring in new players.
