This weekend, Formula 1 returns with the Hungarian Grand Prix. With hardly any time to rest after the last race, the Grand Circus moves to Hungaroring for the last race before the second three-week summer break, prior to the start of the final stretch of the season. As usual this season, McLaren are the favorites to take the win, although Ferrari’s slight improvement and the ever-present threat of Verstappen could spring a surprise. Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin will be looking to get back into the points, while Carlos Sainz will be hoping for a quiet weekend at last so he can get back into the fight for points.
Hungarian F1 Grand Prix
The Hungarian Grand Prix is here, taking place in the city of Mogyoród. This is a track that hosted its first Formula 1 race in 1986, with Nelson Piquet taking the win. The 4.381-kilometer track features high-downforce corners, so cornering will be vital for the cars this weekend.
McLaren, the favorite
McLaren’s dominance this season is unquestionable, and the team is riding high toward another constructors’ championship. The appeal lies in knowing which of its two drivers will ultimately win the individual championship. Piastri has so far shown that he is a step above the rest race after race, but the final stretch is approaching, and Lando Norris’ experience could be a deciding factor.
This weekend, we can expect the two of them to battle it out for first place in a fierce fight for the world title, which has been allowed by the team and is one of the big attractions for the rest of the season. Verstappen will continue to lie in wait, trying to hunt down victories, but it will not be easy for him. He managed to do so in the sprint in Belgium, but he was powerless in Sunday’s race.
The improvement of the Austrian team gives cause for hope, but it looks complicated.
Ferrari has also taken a small step forward with Leclerc as the main protagonist. The Monegasque driver finished on the podium last weekend and hopes to extend the team’s good form and surprise McLaren.
Aston Martin and Alonso, going for points
Fernando Alonso and Aston Martin want to quickly forget last weekend and arrive at a circuit that suits the characteristics of the AMR25. They have the new wing, which debuted in Belgium without results, but they expect a lot from it on this circuit. Given the latest results of the Oviedo driver, not counting Belgium, the goal will be to finish in the points.
Carlos Sainz wants to end the bad luck with Williams
Williams had a good feeling again in Belgium with Albon, but everything went just as badly with Carlos Sainz, who is proving to be one of the disappointments of the season. He has accumulated many problems that have distanced him from his teammate. It is true that luck is not on his side, but it is time to step up.
