Real Madrid and Vinicius have put talks on hold regarding the Brazilian player’s contract renewal, but that does not mean that there has been no contact between the two parties in recent months. However, the Brazilian winger’s demands are far from what Florentino Pérez is willing to offer in order to reach an agreement.
Vinicius’ renewal stalls
The renewal of Vinicius continues to be a hot topic at Real Madrid for several months now: we have to go back to the beginning of February, when an offer supposedly arrived from Saudi Arabia offering the Brazilian €1 billion for five seasons, an “irresistible” offer according to the player’s entourage. However, as the months have passed, there has been no trace of this offer, at least according to sources at the Valdebebas offices. Nothing has arrived, no interest, neither from Arab football nor from any other corner of the planet.
However, this information was used in the renewal of Vinicius‘ new contract with Real Madrid. The Brazilian’s contract with the Whites expires in the summer of 2027, meaning he has this season and the next to play. Since then, there has been speculation about talks, with the summer being the date to close the deal, and even a possible departure for the player.
The truth is that although the player’s entourage has already sent proposals to continue and there have been contacts between both parties, negotiations are currently at a standstill and will not resume until the start of next season, with no specific date set.
What Vinicius is asking for to renew
According to information from “The Athletic,” signed by Mario Cortegana, Vinicius is asking for a net salary of €30 million per season to renew with Real Madrid beyond 2027. This salary would include a renewal bonus, a concept that is new to the club, as it has never been used to renew anyone in its history.
These figures are far from what Real Madrid is asking for, as they are not only unwilling to pay a renewal bonus, but also unwilling to allow any player to exceed the limits set by the club, and they have serious doubts about placing Vinicius on the same level as Mbappé, especially after seeing his performance last season, which was well below what would be expected of a player of his stature and below the required standards.
The standoff with Florentino Pérez
It does not seem like a great idea on the part of Vinicius and his entourage to take on Florentino Pérez. In his years as president, he has faced numerous cases similar to that of the Brazilian, almost always ending with the player leaving the club, and time has proven him right, because Real Madrid has continued to win major titles without its big stars. The most recent important precedents are Cristiano Ronaldo and Sergio Ramos…
With everything at a standstill at the moment, it remains to be seen how negotiations will resume, with both sides obliged to give ground if they want to stay together for many years to come. Real Madrid will not pay Vinicius what he is asking for, but they may be forced to put him on the highest salary bracket if they want him to stay in white.
For now, the only thing Real Madrid wants is for Vinicius to get back to his best ahead of the new season, something that will surely benefit all parties.
