The season is about to begin for Barcelona, who have spent the entire summer insisting that they would have no problems registering their new players in LaLiga, but with just one week to go, Joan Laporta is unable to keep his word for now. Without being registered with the organization headed by Javier Tebas, Hansi Flick will not be able to count on the three new signings from this summer’s transfer market, the two-season renewal of Szczesny, and the various youth players who will occupy spots on the first team under the German coach this season.
The various agreements signed by the Catalans bring them a little closer to getting the registrations through, but they are still not enough. On top of that, Barcelona is embroiled in the Ter Stegen saga and the length of his absence, but the German does not want to share the report, so it seems that the club will not be able to use part of his salary to register Roony Bardghji, Marcus Rashford or goalkeeper Joan García, who has arrived at Camp Nou to push the German out of Can Barça.
Barcelona does not want any problems
In recent years, the Barcelona has had a pretty tough time registering its new players for the new season. In fact, two summers ago, when the Catalans signed players such as Andreas Christensen, Íñigo Martínez, and Ilkay Gündogan on free transfers, these players included a clause in their contracts allowing them to leave if Barça was unable to register them in LaLiga. There was a lot of tension over whether they would finally succeed, but thanks to various maneuvers, some of them highly controversial, Xavi Hernández was able to count on all the new signings.
Last summer, something similar happened at Can Barça, as Javier Tebas and LaLiga had their eyes on the Camp Nou, as they were not going to tolerate any more dubious maneuvers to allow them to register their players while other teams were really struggling to get their new signings registered. Everyone knows what happened with Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor, who were able to be registered due to long-term injuries until January and, following a court ruling, for the rest of the season, which caused a huge controversy in Spanish football.
Unregistered players
Now, obviously, the Barcelona remains under scrutiny and the Azulgranas’ intention is to reach the first LaLiga match against Real Mallorca with their new signings registered, but the truth is that there is only a week to go before Hansi Flick’s side kick off their league campaign and they are still not in a position to guarantee that Marcus Rashford or Joan García will be available for the German coach at Son Moix. The two new signings made by the Blaugranas during this transfer window are not registered with the league.
But they are not the only ones, as Szczesny, who renewed for two more seasons with Barcelona and is set to be Joan García’s backup, is also not registered with LaLiga, meaning that, as things stand, Iñaki Peña will be the first-choice goalkeeper until everything is sorted out. Héctor Fort, who is set to leave Barça on loan, and Oriol Romeu, who is not in Hansi Flick’s plans, are two other players who have not been registered for the time being. Gerard Martín, Marc Bernal, and Roony Bardghji, who are in the German coach’s plans, will not be available for the league debut because they have not been registered by Joan Laporta.
