Forget the $1,390 Stimulus Check: Government Clarifies 2025 ‘Trump Rebate’ — Who Could Get $600–$2,400 (If It Passes)

Rumours about another stimulus check payment has been going around. However, this time it’s a different package. Lawmakers are floating an idea called the American Worker Rebate Act.

Should this become law, all those Americans who are eligible could potentially see cash payments of $600 per person with families of four possibly getting as much as $2,400. In contrast to previous stimulus checks, this one would not be financed by government borrowing. Tariffs, or taxes on imported goods, would be used to finance it instead.

Where the Money Comes From

The U.S. has been collecting massive sums over $150 billion in tariffs in 2025 alone. Supporters of the plan argue that Americans are already paying more for their goods, so they might as well share in the revenue.

That’s where this rebate comes in. It’s pitched as a way to put money directly back into the pockets of working families.

Who Would Qualify

The income requirements for the plan are similar to those for previous stimulus checks:

– Individuals making up to $75,000 might get the entire amount.
– Married couples who earn up to $150,000 and file jointly would also be eligible.
– After such thresholds, payments would progressively decrease until they were stopped altogether.
Simply put, this means that even though the high income earners may see no benefit, middle and lower income households will see a major difference.

How Much You Could Get

The proposal simply looks like this:

  • One adult could receive approximately $600.
  • Families with children would also get $600 per child.
  • A family of four could receive up to $2,400 total.

Why Supporters Like It

President Trump and Senator Josh Hawley are on the page that this refund is a reward for American workers. They note that the money received from tariffs should be returned to people who have worked hard to pay it.

Senator Josh also noted that previous stimulus checks provided financial support for millions of people during difficult economic times.

The Pushback

There are still many people who are not convinced. The fact that the national debt has increased to over $37 trillion has concerned many politicians, and they have aired their concern that issuing this rebate might not be a wise financial decision.

Inflation is another issue. Tariffs frequently increase the cost of imported items, which many consumers already experience in their retail and supermarket expenditures. According to critics, sending out checks made out of tariff funds may provide short-term relief but may also maintain long-term price increases.

There are others who suggest that lowering the tariffs completely would be a much simpler strategy.

When Could It Happen?

Don’t get too excited as this is still only a proposal. Law officials will only return to office after Labor Day. This proposal is still currently in the Senate Finance Committee. It still has to pass Senate and the House first, before any funds are sent.

So even though the rumours are going around and everyone is very excited, people shouldn’t expect checks anytime soon. Should this pass, payments would probably reach households late 2025 or even early 2026.

Why This Matters to You

This news may bring about joy for a lot of people who are struggling as a result of the high prices of groceries, utilities and general everyday bills. The extra $600 per person can make a major difference.

The bottom line? The “American Worker Rebate Act” is a great idea that could mean extra money for millions of Americans. But until Congress acts, it’s just a proposal on paper, not cash in your bank account.
