For exactly ninety years now, the Social Security program has been rolling out benefit checks to the more vulnerable of America’s citizens such as, retirees, survivors, surviving spouses, or disabled individuals. Many of these beneficiaries to the program rely primarily (and sometimes even solely) on their Social Security income to cover their living expenses. As such, it is of utmost importance to these households that these benefit payments roll out smoothly and without any interruptions of delays each month.
The Social Security Administration (SSA) provides its beneficiaries with its schedule of payments for the full calendar year well in advance. The Schedule of Social Security Benefit Payments can be found on the agency’s website, and on it beneficiaries will find the payment dates for both the regular Social Security benefit, as well as the Supplemental Security Income benefit.
Here is a complete outline of how the SSA schedules its payments and the exact dates on which Social Security beneficiaries can expect their benefit checks for the remainder of 2025.
How are Social Security benefit payments structured?
For the regular benefit which includes retiree benefits, survivor benefits, or disability benefits, the SSA will send out these benefit payments on Wednesdays throughout the month, each month. In particular, these benefit payments are paid out on the second, third, and fourth Wednesday. The precise Wednesday on which a beneficiary will receive their monthly benefit income is determined in relation to the date on which they were born.
For beneficiaries who are born between the 1st and the 10th of their respective birth month, their benefit checks will be sent out on the second Wednesday of each month. For those born between the 11th and the 20th of the month, they will receive their benefits on the third Wednesday of each month. Lastly, those who are born between the 21st and the 31st of the month, they will receive their benefits on the fourth Wednesday of each month.
The Supplemental Security Income benefit, on the other hand, is generally paid on the first of each month. SSI payments can often fluctuate slightly, however, this is still clearly marked on the agency’s official payment schedule. If an SSI payment is not paid on the first of the month, it will be paid earlier at the end of the previous month.
