Fernando Alonso has concluded the F1 tests in Bahrain and confirmed the good sensations of Aston Martin and its AMR25 for this new season after finishing the session.
The Asturian driver was satisfied after the conclusion of the morning tests and is optimistic. “The car is better than last year, faster. There are good things and some bad things too. It will be very close and we will have to have perfect weekends to be in the points”.
Fernando Alonso confirms the good sensations
The Asturian driver has completed the tests in Bahrain for F1, prior to the start of the World Championship in two weeks’ time in Australia, and has confirmed the good sensations transmitted by the AMR25, although he has also confirmed that there are things that still need to be improved.
Despite the fact that they have taken a step forward, he is aware of the extreme equality over the last year with the current regulations, as the teams have managed to get the most out of their cars. That is why he says that in order to score points, everyone has to give 100% in every Grand Prix and everything has to go perfectly. “It will be very close and we will have to have perfect weekends to be in with a chance of scoring points”.
End of practice
Fernando Alonso took part in the first session of the third day of practice, the last one for him, as Lance Stroll will complete the final test before the world championship. In this last session he set the eighth fastest time on the grid with a time of 1:32.084. The car’s settings are unknown, which raises doubts, but what we can say is that they are better times than last year.
The role of Fernando Alonso at the wheel of the AMR25 has been fundamental, as Stroll has been more restricted and has driven less than the Asturian driver. Among the things that have become clear are the following: the new spoiler gives much more stability to the car, and it has notably improved its cornering, being among the best according to the telemetry. The second is that the car is still suffering from rear-end sliding, something that already happened last year. Another aspect to take into account is the degradation of the tires, as it is still high, a key factor for the pace of the race.
The AMR25 is faster
Fernando Alonso spoke to journalists after the end of the test and confirmed that “the car is better than last year, faster”. These words from the Spaniard are cause for optimism, but he also wanted to be cautious and admits that some things are very good, but others can be improved, “there are good things and also some bad things”
The Asturian driver believes that the team can fight for points this year, but there will be stiff competition and it will be difficult. “It will be very close and we will have to have perfect weekends to be in the points”.
With the Bahrain tests over, we won’t see the Spanish drivers in their cars again until the start of the Formula 1 World Championship. It will be in just two weeks, in Australia, where we will be able to see the real position of Fernando Alonso and each team. But we must not forget, as we saw last year, that each circuit is a world of its own, and where one day the car works, another day it doesn’t. This speaks of the great equality that awaits us for this 2025 World Cup.
