At Barcelona today, the team’s adaptation to Flick’s style of play is just as important as the respect he has for the players’ rest periods, using the famous Excel minutes. What’s more, in the case of the 36-year-old Lewandowski, there have been several games in which he has played in the final minutes or not at all in order to respect his physical well-being.

This is something that the Polish player is well aware of, because although age is not a problem, it does give him “fresh legs” (another term also used by Flick) with which to contribute figures that are decisive in football, and he has managed to contribute 31 goals and three assists in the thirty-three games played this season.

A level that obviously many people did not expect, and even less coming from a season in which we had seen how his performance had declined and this astonishing recovery was not expected, but far from it, in this second youth he has reached a level where he is no less than Leo Messi, an institution in the Barça team.

Last weekend, against Sevilla, Lewy scored a goal, in this case the first of four that Barça would end up scoring, assisted by a missed shot from Iñigo, in which he showed his goal-scoring instincts, positioning himself and intuiting where the ball would fall, getting ahead of any defensive opposition with his boot just enough to change the trajectory and beat the goalkeeper defending the home goal.

It was goal number 19 in 22 league games, number 31 in 33 games in all competitions, numbers that have always been typical of the superstar Lewandowski. But this expression is taken to the nth degree when we discover, thanks to the website OptaJose, that those 19 goals in 22 league games is something that the Argentine star achieved in the 2019/20 season.

Now that he has reached this milestone, he will not run out of steam after the season of his arrival, he managed to be the “pichichi” of the season; last season, even if it was unfortunate, he scored over two figures and we will see what this season holds for him, which, with the breaks and the “fresh legs” that his coach takes so much care of, he will surely manage to reach high goal quotas.
