That’s it. Real Madrid are fed up with what they consider to be referee bias that is hurting them every week and a league run by Javier Tebas, who is considered a kind of enemy. The feeling of Madrid fans on social networks is pushing the team to consider the option of heading to another league.

The anger of Real Madrid with the refereeing sector has heated up in recent weeks. It started with Romero not receiving a red card for a tackle on Mbappé. The club issued a harsh letter after that match that caused a stir. Threats of strikes by the referees, anger from the rest of the LaLiga teams and complaints from the league to Florentino Pérez’s team. The last straw for the Whites was this weekend’s match against Osasuna at El Sadar, where Bellingham was sent off and Carlo Ancelotti’s side had several penalties not given.

According to the newspaper ‘Sport’, Madrid could be considering asking to join another league, an idea that had already been suggested two years ago with the Premier League. This information was denied by Madrid at the time: “In response to the information published today, which says that our club considered leaving LaLiga for the Premier League, Real Madrid wants to make it clear that it is completely false, as well as absurd and impossible, and that it is only intended to disrupt the day-to-day running of our club once again”.

According to the aforementioned source, if the idea of changing competitions were to be considered again now, it would not be an easy task. The club would have to go to FIFA to request a change of competition with the approval of the league of the country where they would be playing, as well as having the acquiescence of UEFA. ‘Sport’ argues that the most suitable scenarios for Madrid to play in Europe would be the Bundesliga (Germany), Serie A (Italy) or Ligue 1 (France).

Any option seems far-fetched, but the simple fact that it is being considered makes clear the unease of Real Madrid in the domestic competition. The controversy will have to continue to unfold and see where it leads all parties. For the moment, in the immediate future is the Champions League tie against Manchester City this Wednesday at the Santiago Bernabéu.
