Real Madrid has to plan for a future in which there are many unknowns that could shape the future of the club. One of those unknowns is the future of Carlo Ancelotti. Despite being a coach with the backing of the club, the latest setbacks in important competitions have led Florentino Pérez and his team to start considering alternative options for the bench. He is the most successful coach in the history of Real Madrid, but that is not enough to guarantee his continuity despite the titles he may win this season.

The moment of decision for the favourite

One of the names that has gained strength and that is being mentioned more and more lately is that of Xabi Alonso. The former Real Madrid midfielder is doing an extraordinary job at Bayer Leverkusen, establishing the team as one of the biggest surprises in the Bundesliga and coming close to winning the UEFA Europa League. Florentino sees him as the ideal coach.

Xabi Alonso was clear that the ‘love’ is mutual and that he wants to occupy the Santiago Bernabéu bench, but he maintains a good relationship with Carlo Ancelotti, whom he had as a coach at both Real Madrid and Bayern Munich, and he does not want to be seen as the person responsible for his departure.

According to MARCA, the manager will have to make a decision soon. Clearing up any external doubts about the coach’s future was and is a matter for the month of March, as reported by the aforementioned media outlet. Those in charge at the German club are clinging to the remaining year of the contract, but above all to the loyalty of the man from Tolosa so that he continues to shape a project that is still fighting for titles, as demonstrated by his presence in the last sixteen of the Champions League, with Bayern as his rival.

Fernando Carro, General Manager of the German club, is clear about what all the fans want: “When you have a career like his and combine his success and personality, everything multiplies. We assume he will be the coach next year”.

Xabi Alonso is taken for granted at Real Madrid

“I think it’s a foregone conclusion that Xabi Alonso will be the coach of Real Madrid next season”, said Eduardo Inda on Radioestadio. This would mean that Carlo Ancelotti will leave the merengue team at the end of the season, despite having a contract signed until June 30, 2026. Of course, as the other parties involved acknowledge, this supposed proposal from Real Madrid has not arrived.

Iraola also on the agenda

As we said, Ancelotti’s future is not clear and Florentino Pérez is considering several possible options. Among them, the name of Andoni Iraola has been gaining ground. The coach ended up in the Premier League where he has become one of the most promising coaches. The board of directors think that his philosophy would fit in with the club’s traditional way of understanding football: attractive, fast and direct football.

Ancelotti has offers

It seems that the Brazilian Football Confederation has returned to the fray to try to sign the Italian coach. “I’m told that the CBF has contacted Carlo Ancelotti again because they see him as weak at Real Madrid. I think this summer could be the end of his brilliant period; he has won three Champions Leagues with Madrid and nobody believes in the Brazilian coach. There’s Guardiola, who is more complicated, and there’s Ancelotti, who they’ve touched on,” said Eduardo Inda on ‘El Chiringuito’. In addition, there has also been talk of Roma’s interest in the Italian coach who, for the moment, is focused on winning the league, cup and Champions League with Real Madrid.
